BMW Next Gen 7-Series Timing
Just spoke to my dealer, while checking out a 750i, that the next gen 7-series will be on dealer lots in the Spring of 2008.

He said that (BONUS!) an all-wheel drive 7-series would be out in the fall of 2008.

Why an AWD 7-Series? I thought BMW didn't consider Audi as competition? ;)

first off . The dealer you spoke to is an idiot. The new 7-series will debut in the US in 15 months. How do I know this, is I work for BMW and have been since the last 12 years.

We are all very proud of your employment status.

You are the wind beneath our wings.

Now then, could you perhaps give us some good details on the new 7 instead of just the time frame?

At this moment there is not alot to tell. BMW has been very hush hush about the design and drivetrain. BMW will still have the idrive, but it will be more refined. I like the Idrive and have not had the issue that some claim on here to have. Actually, found my treo harder to learn than the Idrive could ever be. The new 7-series will be an evolutionary design due to it being half way thru its 14 year cycle. All BMW's go thru a 14 cycle. Ex: The 2007 X5 was a evolutionary design, 2000 X5 was revolutionary. The revolutionary designs are more drastic in regards to introducing technology and styles ( flame surfacing ). The evolutionary designs are more involved and refined. I have seen sketches and drawings of the new 7-series and it will be incredible. Expect arrival in about 15 months as a 2009.

wow, the 2000 X5 was revolutionary?? Well, considering there wasn't even an SUV before that from BMW I would say so. Do you have any more useless info, like the sky is blue or that we need oxygen to live, Carnac?

The Lexus LS probably will outclass the new BMW 7 easily.

I am with you on this icon. do the lexus posers on here love to hear them type or what ... we could be talking about a Ferrari 599 and a lexus fanboy would bring up how the lexus LF-A will eat it for breakfast. Hell, we could talk about LCD TV's and a lexus fanboy would bring up that the navigation on the LS460L has a better picture quality and thus is a better car.

A bonus would be if it weren't ugly as sin. Maybe they shouldn't beat it with an ugly stick this time. How about evolving the style of the previous model. That would be great.

Hey, the current 7-series has been the best selling 7-series ever so I don't think everyone shares your opinion. They won't go back to their previous design style either, as nice as the previous 7 was that design style had run its course for BMW, there's only so many variations of the same design you can do.

I really want to know who actually designed this new 7 Series.A team leaded by Chris Bangle or a team leaded by Van Hoojdonk? It will rock anyway but I hope it will be an all-new Chris Bangle design.I just love his designs.
