why does the headline reflect year to date sales? aren't the other sales stories based on month to month? or am i just reading it wrong?

Fuzzy reporting it seems.
The numbers are actually up and not down.

Agent009 is posting Year to Date Sales figures, which are down 8.2%, but Sales for BMW April 2008 v. April 2007 are up 5.6%.

Good try 009, but next time, no more deceiving headlines...

YTD would include any sales in Jan, Feb, and Mar, which if BMW had down months, it would reflect that. In this case, the headline should read

"BMW Sales up 5.6% In April" otherwise, "BMW sales down 8.2% Year to Date/This Year"

They're doing great, of course. -8.2% for the year isn't so nice, but at least they're up for the month.

add to that a $300 million or so write off for loss due to incentives and dropping values of BMW on the used car market and BMW will be soon the European Ford/GM financial disaster.
You can't keep inflating those residuals and pumping money into programs, it does not work the big 3 have more than proven it. And now they even have their own Aztec.
But hey, why should I care? LOL

Holy crap. With lease offers like these
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/FinancialServices/LeaseOffers/Default.aspx
and financing of 3.9%, even Chris Bangle designs could sell.

What's laughable is the CPO sales increased 45% in Feb and 25% this month. Pretenders and wannabes indeed. Why pay full price when used looks just as rich?

I want to know the model breakdown so we can see the gradual shift towards cheaper vehicles.

huu .. you are just mad that your lexus baby is no longer #1. Your whole arguement is based upon cheap leases. Lexus is advertising $369 x 36 months for their RX models and $369 for the ES350. What about that? Or how bout the cheap lease deals on the lexus GS350 or GS450 that are going on? Both of those cars lease for about $100 less per month than a comparable BMW 5-series. The RX lease is about $300 cheaper than a lease on a X5. You forgot to mention that in your arguement.

CPO sales are up 45%. This allows BMW to use a higher residual. They are selling 80% of the off lease cars. Everyone in the industry knows that BMW wrote the book for the Certification Program. BMW was the first and they have the best program going.

Jealous are we? Whats your next arguement huu?

"BMW can't beat a Lexus because it only has 3 letters in its name, while Lexus has 5 letters?"

Theres always going to be something to argue about, it just depends on how dumb you look arguing your point...

Just makes Lexus more unique. There's also a difference between selling lots of cars and making lots of money. BMW should look into the latter.

answer,

I'm in IT and invest in real estate (Canadian real estate is still worth soemthing eventhough imo its inflated). I'm the 5/E/GS target demographic.

Difference is I don't need a badge to justify my existence.

Ask foxy what I drive, its heritage makes him jealous.
