I wonder how the Japanese car makers will react to Germany's new line ip of compacts. After all Japan is so called "king" of kei cars.

im confused as to why BMW continues to go downmarket, they really need more high end products. i think this will one day hurt BMW's image competing with mainstream cars

agree with you. They have MINI brand for the compact cars, why would they want to keep producing lower models?

High End cars aren't volume sellers! They've got to stay competitive.

wow thanks for that little piece of informed information, i wonder sometimes....of course they arent, toyota, honda, chevorlet, and vw arent competitors to BMW they have no reason to try and fight them. HIGH END cars anchor the image of the rest of the brand, and because they are LOW-VOLUME, can be sold at a higher profit margin than these little small cheap cars that are intented to sell LARGE VOLUMES, at a small profit margin each. PROFIT is what BMW needs not sales, they have plenty of sales, the way to increase sales isnt to risk losing luxury customers that start to see that is to easy to buy a BMW. or by creating more cars with low profit margins, when profits are what you are trying to fix.

exactly ... to many people see BMW as something special, like "oh, bmw will never do a turbo engine, turbo sucks" but later on they changed it to "well, bmw only said that because of the turbo lag, there is no turbo lag on the 335i", yeah, right, no turbo lag if you don't drive it. they only go where the $$$ are, it's a company, it's suppose to do that, don't create a God out of the bmw cause you will be disappointed. if you aren't already with the new m3 getting worse review than the previous one ...

Its all about Co2, the more small cars they have in their lineup the better, because they do not let out a lot of Co2 like the I6 and V8. In Europe we buy smaller cars, not like in the US where you have to have the V8 and so one. I just been there and cant see any reason why most people drives a V8 pickup, its ugly and not to much use.
