BMW X5 M and X6 M - German Pricing

Now i KNOW I will get tonnes of feedback on this statement, so let me preference by saying, I LOVE the X6. Some say its pointless, I say, I love niche vehicles if the company can mandate the model, more power to them. My point is, why isn't anyone complaining about the huge carbon footprint these models make? If this was a domestic V8 or so, it would be considered a demon spawn for the depths of hell. Explain.

I just don't understand people like you. Why is it ok for Mercedes to sell ML63's and G63's, for Porsche to sell Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S's, for Land Rover to sell their supercharged Range Rover, but it's NOT ok for BMW, who is known for making performance vehicles, to make something that competes? Please justify it for me, because I just don't get it. All of those vehicles I just mentioned cost MORE than either of these. All of them will likely perform WORSE than all of these. All of them are status symbols. Yet they're allowed to make money on a successful product, and BMW isn't allowed to compete because... because... why exactly? Because you're a "brand purist"? Because it "defies M philosophy"? Please. You need to get with the times. Porsche sells SUV's and is about to come out with a four door hatchback. That was practically sacrilege. And you know what? That SUV basically saved the company. That "brand purist" mentality is a great business plan for going out of business -- if you want to continue to grow and make money, you adapt. You build what people will buy. Make an M7. Make an M of whatever. Hell, see if the Panamera Turbo sells well -- if it does make an M of that new 5-Series GT, since the layout is virtually identical. If it will sell and make you money, build it. You want to be a better handling version of AMG? If that business plan makes sense, go for it.

"Purists" have their place but they're a tiny part of the buying public, and staying in business is much more important than satisfying them. I want BMW to stay in business so they'll keep building cars I myself will buy. The "purists" should too. Those folks don't have to like the X5 and X6 M. DON'T BUY IT if you don't. You don't have to like the X5/X6 M to appreciate an M3 or M5, or even a 335i or 750Li. All that matters is that enough OTHER people DO want to buy the X5 and X6 M. And based on the fact that Porsche, Benz, and Rover have successfully been able to sell their versions, at higher prices even, I think BMW will be ok. They'd have been insane not to throw their hat in the ring.

This new M engine is the world’s first with a pulse-tuned exhaust manifold encompassing both rows of cylinders combined with high-performance twin-scroll twin turbo technology.

This configuration, patented by BMW M and known as Cylinder-bank Comprehensive Manifold (CCM), offers lightning-quick response, a linear build-up of engine power, and a broad, consistent torque curve by feeding each of the twin turbochargers with a “charge pulse” at approximately every 90 degrees of crankshaft rotation, rather than the more traditional “irregular schedule” of charging.

.....this sounds pretty inovative.
