BMW X6- A BMW of a different caliber?
Here are the latest spy photos of a new X6 prototype taken in the streets of Munich showing more of that sloping roof line and front end styling.

Seems to us BMW really liked the idea of the the Dodge Caliber...the closer the X6 gets to introduction, the more it resembles the Caliber.

Obviously, about a thousand times nicer but similar in purpose.

Would you agree with us and is this a good strategic move for BMW's product line?

Well, I think the Caliber could be an interesting car if it wasn't such a rattly piece of crap.

Amen brother...Caliber-great idea, poor quality in and out.

Dodge introduces the category, BMW will capitalize on it.

I'm assuming this is larger than the Caliber. The Caliber always looked retarted to me. The styling is very aggressive to a satisfying degree, but the car itself is just too small to wear such a macho costume. Sort of like the new Avenger. What were they thinking? The Charger looks great, but copying and pastin it's styling cues onto a much smaller car just doesn't work.

Then again.. I have yet see a small car that i find attractive. Side effect of being 6'6", i guess.

Boy do I hear that pushrod. At 6'3" I even have a hard time finding small cars attractive.

All I can say is....

It better be more Bloody Fast and Fun to Drive than the current X5/FX45/Cayenne Turbo
Otherwise I and a lot of others will stick to the X5 or Cayenne Turbo Format

That was pretty sleazy of Daewoo to go copying BMW like that.

Good to see huu is back on form and finding new ways of destroying his (very thin) integrity.

Any way to bash a European product, right huu?

I heard Ford is offering a new grille design on the Crown Vic, it's never been a better time to get the wallet out huu. Maybe if you splash out you'll be so busy testing the durability of your new purchase by mounting kerbs at speed that you may even forget to post on Autospies!

I don't see why the Caliber should be mentioned at all in this article, why because the Caliber has a gently sloping roof line?

Other than that weak connection, these cars couldn't be any more different in terms of concept and design...

Bangle has made some very ugly BMWs, but this time he could outdo himself.

In sheer ugliness

I don't know what all the fuss is about. Just like all recent BMWs, this is a gorgeous and timeless design that will appeal to the masses. Much better than the Mercedes Caliber. Shame on you if you disagree...

If you've seen other SUVs in the past 5 years, it doesn't look much like the Dodge Caliber. Rather, it looks like BMW's interpretation of the Infiniti FX. The FX is not the most beautiful, but it's definitely a great on-road SUV. I would expect BMW to improve on the basic FX design by leaps-and-bounds...balancing the overall weight distribution and updating the xDrive active 4WD system. The X6, I think, will prove to be a excellent all-season vehicle.

Gee, maybe the X3 is a 'competitor' to the Infiniti FX - the X6 most certainly will not be in that price category.

001..this whole "is the BMW X6, its version of the Dodge Caliber is just ridiculous, the Dodge Caliber was meant to replace the Neon and is basically an econobox SUV-lite.

I just completely miss the whole reason BMW is introducing the X6...

...is it to compete in the Cayenne, Range Rover Sport category (where it will likely be priced)?

...is it to start a new 'Personal SUV' category - for a 50-something balding, gold chain guy who never carries more than one other passenger (backseat and cargo seem non-existant from the spy photos.

I just don't get it, maybe BMW is smarter than all of us but I think it will be a huge dud.

So far I think it looks pretty good. I mean you can stretch your imagination & make it look like an Aztec, Prius, or Caliber, but I'm sure in reality when you see it on the road, it will appear strong & elegant leaving those other thoughts astray.
