BMW X6 V8 Twin Turbo Spied Testing at BMW Performance Center
Here is the latest spy video of the BMW X6 Twin turbo V8 being tested at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina. A very lucky spy on E90post caught the big TT V8 on one of his first spy shoots at the Performance Center. Could this be BMW's answer to the Range Rover Sport Supercharged? Sound wise, we think it has got it beat because even at the excessive length these videos were taken at you can still hear the X6 TT V8 roar its pretty voice. Turn up the volume because these are some pretty special videos. Read Article

R15 ... TT V8 will produce 400 hp and 450 lbs of torque. BMW is claiming 0 to 60 in 5.3 seconds which means that it should be at 5 or just under in actual testing.

Spoke with someone the drove one, said the X6 was nothing less than ground-breaking. The handling will be the new standard for SUV and the AWD system will take the competition a few years to catch up to. They also said it looks a lot better in person and has a amazing amount of presence.

It better look ALOT better in person. The V8 has a nice rumble to it for sure and the driving dynamics should be outstanding. When you refer to the new AWD system, is that their interpretation of the torque vectoring system the Acura MDX already uses?

a couple of weeks ago a BMW regional rep had his X6 xDrive35i at the dealer by me. He wouldn't let anyone even inside it (including the people working there), but I took a bunch of pictures (which I probably wasn't supposed to do but oh well). Black exterior, cream interior, sport package w/ 20"'s -- it looked freaking awesome. I had seen the X6 in Detroit and thought it looked great, but this was the first black one I'd seen in person and it was just sweet as hell. It just looks so aggressive. That thing is going to turn heads like crazy out on the street.

Golfer38,

BMW one ups Acura, heres Car and Drivers take.

The X6 will serve as the introductory vehicle for a new technology BMW calls Dynamic Performace Control (DPC) which is a further development of the company's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Similar in concept to Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), DPC apportions engagement of the rear wheels from side to side based on need, and like the Acura system, it can rotate the outside wheel faster than the inside wheel in hard cornering, thus improving cornering speed.
Unlike the Acura system, need is determined on the basis of yaw instead of wheelspin, and DPC operates by clutches, so engagement is constant rather than throttle-dependent. Together with BMW's various stability and traction control systems, DPC seems to make the X6 exceptionally stable on low-adhesion surfaces and also seems to give the vehicle nearly neutral handling, although understeer will prevail at the limit.

Audi had better put out a new generation of quattro soon.

Except they left out the fact that the Acura system can be proactive not just reactive to a situation. The SH AWD system will gather imput from more than just throttle, ie. torque between the road and the tires, steering wheel imput (it uses the drive by wire system to monitor data), etc. If you look at the results from the May 07 issue of CarandDriver, you'll see just how effective the SH AWD is compared to other competitors including the BMW X5. .86g to .80g on the skid pad.

Saw one at the NY auto show over the weekend and got to sit in it.

Now, I am not an suv type buy, but this seemed really nice. I am curious as to how it drives.
