BMW adding new models: X6, X1, BMW GT and PAV arriving by 2012
BMW will be adding three new 4×4s to its lineup within the next three years. Of course the first addition will be the much anticipated X6 crossover. That will be followed by the already confirmed BMW X1 and the long rumored Mini’s 4×4 Colorado.

Speaking at BMW’s annual press dinner last night, UK managing director Jim O’Donnell confirmed that all 4×4s will hit the markets by 2010. As you already know the X6 will be in dealerships next year. O’Donnell says...

Im not sure if bmw is keen on trying to target their brand as "4x4" re inventors(X6) or trying to focus primarily now and in the next few years to dominate the segment(suv), either way It's a good pull if they can make it last.
If i recall i dont think ive seen news about any of the new x models replacing any cars in that segment so thats 4 suv's, looks like bmw's target is set on suv's .

..Personally im a huge Quattro officionado and think the r8 best's any bmw machine, but im looking forward for the white and blue to come out with their supercar.
That's where i would appreciate bmw to be at right now, on a more competitive note with the industry.

EnvyofyouRS5 I think your the only Audi fan on this site i like, you have reason and ration. Anyway Iv been waiting for BMW to come out with a supercar forever, well since the Z8 which kinda let me down, it was beautiful, but it didn't have any fancy high revving engine or trick gearbox, which are things i would like to see.

"on a more competitive note with the industry."
supercars are awesome but there main purpose is image and a technology showcase, Not making profit. I have a feeling that BMW's supercar will be the CS, it will be there show piece. And I bet it will be an amazing vehicle, especially in M guise.
But I do hope one day they will come out with an M1 successor....probably for M's 50th anniversary or something. :/

Oh, the CS was awesome! I hope it makes production! The CLS/A7/CS/Quattroporte/Panamera/Rapide/XF class is frivolous, but all of them are (and will be) so beautiful... yes, even the Panamera.

CS, the m1 is probably the best machine made in existence based on looks and performance imo from bmw, it would be a remarkable comeback, im on you with that plain.

What i meant on a more competitive note in the industry was tackling the fields where the prestigious car companies should be showcasing their stature, innovative design meeting styling and technology representing their brand... R8, AMG SLC..
The CS will be a great addition to bmw, its style cues are futuristic and bmw prone for sure, but its no sleek 2 seater top of the line sports car!(supercar).

"CS, the m1 is probably the best machine made in existence"

Wow, strong words. I think the Porsche 911, Porsche 959, Porsche Cayman S, Audi quattro, Audi R8, BMW M3, Mercedes-Benz SL Gullwing, Mercedes-Benz S/CL-Class, Honda NSX, Ferrari F430, Ferrari 599 GTB, Ferrari Testarossa, Lamborghini Countach, Lamborghini Miura, Bugatti Veyron, McLaren F1, Aston Martin DB9, Ford GT and countless others could all challenge that...

I love the X6 and the GT will be incredible, but what is the point of the X1? Do they expect to start a market segment with a super-small, performance-oriented, overpriced soft-roader? It seems like they'll only have in-house competition from the upcoming MINI SUV.

s4, if you owned an m1 im sure you wouldn't buy one just for performance factors to be "challenged" with.
For it's time the m1 was the standard for german auto cars that could out-circuit most competitors on the track.
the m1 is considered bmw's only supercar, and there would have a huge list of reasons why the z8 could not be put on that list..

Well I hope they call the CS the 8-series, I think it would be could to get the number 8 back in the line-up.

What will they call the PAV/PAS though? 4 series-would be available...

They just announced an economy car, a mini-van and also Jeep YJ competitor but didn't announce the T325xi pickup truck featuring legendary BMW handling, complete with oversized propellors?

How do you say sellout in German?

"Sellout" is of Japanese origin - there is no German translation for this word.

Idiot!

For some reason I don't really like the x6, or at least the back of it. It looks weird to me. From the front it looks good but it pretty much looks like the x5 from the front anyways.
