Lexus is right on par with these cars in terms of global sales. All these German cars sell because they're offered in 1.8 form or something. Lexus only come with the best of the best engines, big powerful and not underpowered engines like the Germans offer (at rip off prices too) and it is amazing that Lexus sells so many powerful cars and the Germans sell so many small and underpowered cars that take 9 seconds to reach 60 mph. That's slow and pathetic.

How is 9 seconds slow?
It's not super-fast but it's plenty quick.

Why fudge numbers and include Mini sales in the headline?

Admiral, you have to include Lamborghini in Audi's sales portfolio. I know it doesn't add much, but whatever.

Apparently, Bugatti and Bentley are also in the Audi Group now, because of Porsche/VW's brand restructuring plan. Unlike Ford, Chrysler and GM's restructuring, the VW Group is literally putting their brands in different structure portfolios.

Mini does do small volume. And a sales increase from last year is expected due to the recent redesign.

BMW is a good value, I feel that if BMW charge more money I would pay. BMW has the world's best engineers on a par with Ferrari in terms of engineering.

I would wait for the S5... I know someone who just bought a 335i but is on the list for an S5, after reading the reviews. There may not be a significant performance gap between the two, but there's nothing like the power of a V8, even compared to a silky-smooth turbo six.

Minis are a great alternative to anything similar offered in the price range. And FYI Mini Dealers DO NOT negotiate prices of their cars. Sticker price is Final Price!

I'm a big Lexus fan, but I really admire what BMW is doing..I can see them taking back the number one spot in the US from Lexus at the end of this year or beginning of next year with the new 1-series...but then Lexus will take it back with the new LX and new RX.
Anyway just good for BMW.

Oh, really? You are such an idiot. I'm literally shaking my head while sitting at my computer.

I am considering the 750i and 535xi- FOR MY WIFE. She will also look at the Jaguar XF, Audi A8 and Lexus LS460L. Her new car will be in early 2008, but later if we have to wait for the XF to come out.

On the other hand, I will be keeping the S4 and buying a sedan or coupe that's easier to drive in the winter. AWD would make a lot of sense, but I've definitely been eying the 335i coupe, not only because it's a stunner but because I want some variety. As sexy as the new S5 is, having both cars be Audis isn't very enthusiast-like.

I am *AHEM* also considering the BMW M5 and M3 sedans. Can't afford a BMW, you say? We'll see about that. I will certainly not buy a BMW just to spite some blogger on a website, but if it comes down to it, I may have one in my garage anyway.

Don't worry you can add one more to the BMW customer list. I have the 335i convertible pretty much loaded with every useful option.

The car looks amazing, it drives amazing, and for the price there is absolutely no other 4 seat convertible that can come close to matching it unless you want to pay over $30K more for the Benz CLK 63 AMG, which I quite frankly don't.

The BMW 335i convertible has no direct competitor

amazinBimmer so Audi owners can afford BMWs right if they can go and get the BMW 335i.

VW owns audi, Bentley, Lamborghini,Seat etc. Audi is in the same group as Bentley and Lamborghini much like Ford's PAG Volvo, Lincoln, Jaguar, etc. Lincoln does not own Aston Martin or Land Rover just in same group. Audi is not a independent company they dependr on VW for Cash. Mercedes is independent now, BMW is also Independent owns both RR and Mini

Well according to { http://www.lambocars.com/archive/history.htm } and { http://media.audiusa.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=9284 } Audi has owned Lambo since July 1998, I think I'll go with what Audi and Lamborghini say instead.

That group you just mentioned, was when VW split the division into 2 groupings ( Bernd Pischetschriede )

Audi is 99% VW owned, but 1% public owned, so it counts as a seperate company, Audi AG, which owns Seat and Lambo.
VW owns outright Bugatti, Bentley and Skoda has stakes in a truck making firm, and VWis itself partially owned by Porsche.
All those brands fall under the Volkswagen Group, subdivided in Porsche division, VW division and Audi division, which in turn own Bugatti, Bentley, Skoda and Lambo and Seat.
This diagram explains it:
