BMW confirms it is in talks with GM, Daimler and Fiat to sell engines
According to Friedrich Eichiner, a BMW’s board member for corporate and brand development, BMW will decided by the end of the year whether or not it wants to sell engines and other components to rival automakers. When asked if he meant GM, Daimler and Fiat, Eichiner said: “We are talking with those companies you mentioned.”
Selling engines and other components to other automakers is part of CEO Norbert Reithofer’s Number One strategic plan to boost profitability. Selling engines to GM and Fiat, BMW will be able...

Nothing of substance different from a Lexus motor and a Toyota motor in most cases.

abcd- errrr no. I was just stating my opinion, which can easily be backed up with fact(facts in a sec). I'm sorry you hallucinated that bizarre connection w/ Mitsubishi selling engines and why they could....ahh forget it, I have no idea what you said. Anyway, why are BMW engines the best? There engines are arguably the most technologically advanced, and the smoothest and most linear in power delivery. They're powerful but not peaky(unlike Ferrari's engines which are more like race car engines, thats why I put BMW engines ahead of Ferrari's, big # are easy, but big #'s and refinement show more expertise),flat torque curves...I could go on.
Did I mention the awards they won? You have to see this abcd. Google international engine of the year award, you can find all time winners on there somewhere. I think BMW won around 30 in the past handful of years. toyota won maybe 5-6. audi 1. VW 3-5
ferrari 1or2.

mclaren428:
someone make a list of IEOTY in wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Engine_of_the_Year
and here Ward`s 10 best engines:

"I think BMW won around 30 in the past handful of years. toyota won maybe 5-6. audi 1. VW 3-5

not little exaggeration with that proportions as you can see .

Still BMW won the most by a healthy margin as you can see.Apology accepted. second Ward's is hardly credible its a top ten list from a magazine....I wouldn't read to much into that. International Engine of the year is more credible the results are selected by more than 60 auto journalists, and engineers from around the world. They have an award ceremony its like the Emmies for car engines!

I am not a BMW fan but even I have to admit that their engines are probably the best in the world. (not including Ferrari)They are light weight and have proven durable and decent fuel efficiency. Fiat buying them makes sense. GM and Dailmer do not.

Infinti's new 3.7 V6 makes 350BHP in the middle East specification G37 Coupe. I think that's the new benchmark in it's class beating BMW's 3.0TT.

I thought it was 327hp, no? Plus the 3.0l tt I6 produces way more than 306hp. The 335i is faster in a straight than the G37 coupe for a reason.
