BMW developing new eco 3-series
With plans for similar emissions-based taxation schemes like London’s congestion charge as well as tough new low CO2 emissions regulations planned for Europe from 2012 onwards, carmakers are focused on cleaning up tailpipe emissions as well as offering more models with lower CO2 levels than currently provided.

One of the most active is BMW, which has already shown a 119g/km of CO2 1-series and is now reportedly set to release a sub-120g/km 3-series saloon.

so this is just like the new C class blue efficiency line. They should just do this to all cars. just make them super slippery.

I am really glad BMW is Eco-Friendly, but I think that they are going about it the wrong way. They are looking at short term and not long term. They need to start doing experimenting in Electric and Diesel-Hybrid Technologies. It's quite obvious those are going to be the future.

Well they will make money in the short term from this stuff so they can invest for the long term.

The problem with the electric and hybrid technologies is that it might not be appropriate for BMW at this time. These technologies add a lot of weight which will take away some of that great BMW handling. That's why BMW is experimenting with high-powered capacitors for a big takeoff the line. The capacitors are very light weight.

they have tried for a push of hydrogen which gets great mileage and power. putting water in our cars and not relying on gas... makes sense to me!

Hydrogen is a great fuel storage medium without the risks of high intensity EMF present in the current electric hybrids.
