BMW for sale? That’s absolute rubbish
Of the many rumors that pop-up every now and then in the automotive industry, one that seems to come up most often is that BMW is up for grabs by the Quandt family. The Quandt family owns 46.6 percent of Bayerische Motoren Werke.

Last week, BMW shares jumped 2.5 percent due to a rumor that the Quandt family was in talks with investors from China and the Middle East about a possible sale.

“That’s absolute rubbish,” a spokesman for the family said. “I have no idea where in the world that’s coming from...

Don't insinuate that he's a coward when you're the one who needlessly brought up Lexus.

What about his username? For all you know it could be his social security number. And for that matter, shame on you for attacking someone simply on their username.

About time...Yugo or the French should buy BMW and sell those cars for $9,999.00 (US Dollars).

Honda should buy BMW. The "magic" wont be lost, and Honda can officially keep using BMW interiors.

Lexus doesn't use fake wood, end of story. Lexus also doesn't offer fake leather like BMW and Mercedes do for further analysis.

The new C-Class interior is a perfect example of a German brand not up to par with quality standards. It doesn't even look as good from a materials perspective from even the Lexus IS, which does utilize plastic. Both the C-Class and the IS use plastic. The difference? The Lexus plastic is nicely camouflaged to look like metal. The C-Class just gives you the standard, drab-looking black plastic.

BMW has never been known for good interiors. BMW is not a luxury-oriented brand! They're simply not! There's no need to pretend otherwise! There was even a specific quote from a review of a new 3-Series once that embarrassed it by saying that even a Honda Civic interior bettered it in many ways.

Lexus uses quality materials all the way around. Their leather is top notch, their wood is high quality, and when they use plastic, it is the highest-quality, softest-feeling plastic in the entire industry.

I just said the IS has plastic that looks like aluminum! Clearly you just can't read!

Yes, it is plastic. Plastic that imitates metal that looks better and more expensive than the extensive amount of regular black plastic found in both the 3-Series and C-Class.

The rest of your comments are your typical delusional German fanboy-ness which just doesn't need a response. You are the one that's simply stupid to believe that a BMW 3-Series has a "better" interior than the IS; simply stupid to think BMW and Lexus are not competition.

Ok Will I must disagree with you on the leather interior of the Lexus. It smells plasticy inside, do u not notice? As for the highest grade plastics in the industry... no, Toyotas are much the same, making Lexus feel not very special when you are inside it. I drove both the BMW 3 series and the Lexus IS and the BMW won me over, even though I preferred the look of the IS (I still think it is the best looking Lexus and is one of the best looking sedans in its class) But my BMW has more wood than the IS, it was, as you said, full of this metal looking plastic. My car does not have this acres of black plastic you talk about. The only black is the dash which is a padded dash, not hard or plasticy at all. And for your info, both Lexus and BMW use leather only on the SEATING surfaces, not the entire seat.

for your information, BMW and Merc both use Full Leather interiors, not just the seatfronts. I cant speak for Lexus, but i am assuming that only the GS and LS do.

Why does my co-workers 530i have pleather then? There is no "pleather" available on a Lexus.

Mind you: everything has a price.

The late Mr. Quandt is long time gone, and BMW share prices haven't exactly been stars of the show in the past couple of years.

Still, first let's have somebody actually pay for Chrysler. Then comes Jag and Land Rover (the latter will go to FIAT, mind you). FoMoCo will be on the bloc in 2008 as the heirs grow tired of losing 90% of their equity by that time.

PSA may be interested in taking over BMW as they cooperate on so many engines (petrol and diesel) anyhow. The Quandts may ask Daimler for a new marriage (they develop FWD architecture together anyhow). Any more guess ?

That's actually not true, but I do notice that there's alot more Lexus trash talking going on in German threads than even Lexus threads themselves.

Another ridiculous web article..the Quandt family is not dependent on BMW for all their wealth...one of the most discreet and wealthy families in the world.

BTW..It will be nice when these toyota fan boys drop a pair of gonads and start thinking like adults

Anything can happen in a family-owned or family-controlled business the size of a car company like BMW. Different factions in the family have different agendas sometimes resulting in bitter family feuds. Goals may vary from wealth preservation to squandering one's fortune by an extraordinary lavish life style. Very often, the next generation fails to take an interest in the business or is prepared to pursue different business opportunities.

The Acura TL uses real aluminum trim inside, they just need to get rid of the plastic inserts in the panels and we would be all set. For the record Japanese interiors are better than the Germans, I've always said both Mercedes and BMW interiors are plain and plastic feeling. Also what's up with still using knobs for the climinate control move on with technology.

this is madness.

BMW is BMW, nothing else.
Company like Lexus knows what BMW's true value is and people can clearly see it from their cars in everyday life.

Everything is for sale at the right price. Given all the mergers and divestures in the automotive industry, I don't know how anyone expects a relatively small manufacturer like BMW to stay independent forever. We all hope BMW can continue to stand on its own, but with Bangle driving the vehicle styling off a cliff, sometimes I begin to wonder...

Just another instance of how idiotic the stock market can be when stocks jump over rumors that most likely started by a BMW share holder...lol. Why would it go up when selling to China or Middle East? Dumb!!!
