yawn...just more BS from germany. if they want to be cool, revolutionary and wow people they should make a plug in hybrid like Fisker or ev like tesla.

Instead my money will go for the Fisker Karma convertible.

plug-ins and EVs are nearly useless in the US. the range on them is so minute that a large portion of the working class couldn't make it to work and back on a charge. and although my corporation is pretty progressive and all, we still don't have outlets in our parking lots and garages.

personally, if we're going to dump massive amounts of money into "clean" alternatives - it should be hydrogen. while electricity is more easily distributed, hydrogen is easier to store (battery v. tank). in a way, hydrogen fuel is actually just electricity but we sub in a compressed gas tank for batteries. using hydrogen would allow for a greater driving range for vehicles with no emissions. i imagine that retrofitting an existing fuel station to use hydrogen would not be horribly expensive. the existing fuel storage tanks could be used with only minor changes to the delivery and metering systems.

Why does BMW have to keep taking risks and being innovative?! They should be content to rest on their past successes and only build cars in the prescribed formats dictated by what has already been done in the past. I, like most people, am too closed minded and set in my ways to begin comprehending something "new and creative" even if it is useful, beautiful, and wonderful to drive. Has anything great ever come from looking to the future? I think not.

Lee Iacocca put it best. Lead, follow, or get out of the way. Each time BMW comes up with a concept like this they re-invent themselves. Most car companies don't look inward when things are good, only when it goes to hell do they bother to look at themselves and say what is broken? This is what I love about BMW, they don't wait for it to break before they look inward, they break it anyway and then proceed to fix it. In doing so they re-invent themselves over and over again, sometimes creating a whole new market in the process. I for one applaud this design, whether there is a market or not the technology gleaned from the process makes for a better core vehicle.

We woukdn't have the X5, X3, and X6 if BMW didn't continue to be innovative - vehicles that almost every other manufacturer have copied or followed with and which have sold millions of units - with very happy customers.

Another BMW segment pioneer, the stretched hatchback. Once again, another segment no one asked for. Less attractive than a sedan, less versatile than a wagon.

I think BMW is losing its way, visually. I'm getting bored of these agressive, trendy vehicles. Even the new, conservative 7 Series is looking unresolved. Mercedes, on the other hand, is looking stronger and stronger with its design language.

I think it's the opposite. The new BMWs are standing the test of time very well and the E60 5 Series, for example, looks fresher than any other car in its class right now. The new 7 will look far better on the road, that I can tell you now. That's how it always is with new BMW designs. I thought the E92 (3 Series coupe) was ugly before I first saw it in person.

I think it looks pretty nice. It looks like a nice size - not too small and not too large and still has that meaty appearance (that I like). It has some nice lines to the front end... I really like the subtle jutting of the grille centerline.
