BMW minicar is a go!
We’ve previously reported about BMW considering a new low-emissions minicar to help reduce its fleet average emissions levels and now new reports have emerged claiming there could be an all-new brand launched with several different models in the pipeline. Part of the reason for BMW considering such a model is the mounting environmental awareness spreading across Europe. Such a car would also give it a better standing against similar superminis being developed by rival brand Audi, and to a less extent VW.

An inside source has told reporters from AutoExpress that the new model line is being designed primarily for town use but driver appeal would still be key. The lineup will be positioned below the current Mini range and will get its own unique label, possibly Isetta or Triumph. The cars won’t feature advanced technologies such as hybrids because “that technology is reserved for larger models, such as SUVs,” the insider explained. Read Article

There would be nothing wrong with the Mini if it were a small SUV with high seats so one can just slide in. This also requires a high roof so that one does not bang his head against the roof when getting in and out of the vehicle.

LOL people, that is not the car, that is an old concept car from back in the day. BMW will more likely go the retro route on this one and take ques from the Isetta or something along those lines. A new Isetta could be cool if done right.

Either BMW is really desperate for any kind of sales, or they've gone completely off the deep end. What is this, a Yaris competitor?

I'm sure dummies will still claim that this is the best handling, most luxurious car in the world that poor people can't afford.

Good eye. I'm sure Honda somehow copied BMW 10+ years ago. After all, everybody copies BMW, even if they beat BMW to market with it.
