BMW officially cancels plans for X7 SUV
CEO Norbert Reithofer said on Friday that the luxury German automaker will be increasing prices later this year and next year.

Speaking to the press on a conference call, Reithofer also said that car sales in the U.S. will be lower than last year. He said that the automaker will cut the number of cars that it originally planned to sell in the U.S. by 40,000 units. BMW will also cut production by 20,000 to 25,000 units to counter the current market conditions in the U.S.

Reithofer said that BMW will also cancel plans to produce the X7, a large SUV that was supposed to...

D'oh... I'm sick and tired of all the Range Rovers round here, they all look so dated!

Actually, I'd only say that about the Sport. The big daddy Range Rover looks timeless.

I think BMW can really beat the Range Rover if they put in all their efforts 'cause you know what?...BMW was the one that made the current generation of the Range Rover! It was supposed to be THEIR flagship SUV. Does anyone know what happened between them?

ahaha...I've tried to teach a few girls about cars, and they'd get really pissed off it I confuse Bimmer's RR (Range Rover) with Bimmer's RR (Rolls Royce)!

Common BMW, don't give up so easily... go ahead, make this fabulous vehicle, the X6 just isn't big enough, we need something even bigger. bigger = road presence :)

ToyLex made all those new huge SUV's and pickups and now it's turned into a disaster for them.

lol

The X6 isn't a failure. As has been mentioned before, they are sold out to dealers for the year.

X6 is sold out.

and BMW is one of the most profitable automakers on the planet.

you're a terribly uninformed individual.

It not the right time for BMW to produce a gas guzzler. Unless they can make it run on water.
X5 is good enough, Mercedes' GL and Land Rover's Range will see low sales soon if not already seeing that trend.

I was looking forward to the X7 too. The Merc GL looks horrible. I like the G-class, but it is a little too narrow for me to haul stuff around.

smart move.

launching an all-new GIANT suv in the current energy market would be ridiculous.

WorldofLuxury,
Isn't the engine the only part BMW put in, and wasn't only in the first couple of model years?
Anyway, Range Rovers stand out more than X5s.

enthusiast,
Didn't stop them from putting out the X6, arguably the most useless of all BMWs. Probably the reason they cancelled it was their marketing budget is being slashed.

Lately I've been seeing just as many Range Rover Sports as I have nwe X5s. I finally saw my first X6 the other day. The guys wife and kid looked really cramped in the back seats.
