BMW on the prowl for a engine joint venture partner
BMW reportedly is looking for a buddy to build engines together with, yet again. Working together spreads out the development costs and and speeds up the development time with twice as many minds on the job according to BMW Chief Executive Norbert Reithofer.

BMW already works with Peugeot/Citroen to share the motors for the Mini and could look to...

NO! Definitely not Honda. Honda seems to like el cheapo SOHC engines instead of DOHC engines whenever they can get away with it. They even did it on the new 2008 Accord V6 -- what a shame. Only the in-line 4 engine on the 2008 Accord has DOHC, otherwise it would be even weaker than it already is.

Perfectly balanced in-line 6 cylider engines is BMW's forte -- I hope BMW does not water down its engine eputation by getting involved with a company like Honda.

MidEngine, in your quoted link you will notice that BMW was awarded more than HALF of the awards, 6/11 where VW attained only 2, 3 if you include Porsche! I'd say a Honda would be a good partner ito increased volume potential and overall quality!

I agree with Brembo that Honda should move to RWD especially if such RWD models are equipped with LSD for added winter traction. I am annoyed at all car manufacturers that do not offer LSD for their RWD vehicles.

Me too. And why is that? How much more can an LSD be? At the very least, the manufacturers should make an LSD an option. I would gladly forgo power seats, moon-roof, navigation system for an LSD.

I'd love if AMG could borrow some BMW M's technology - higher revving = yeah!!!!

fyi I mean I want higher revving technology
the 6.2 liter engine is cool, but too Americanish muscle-car style

Too much high revving isn't necessarily always good!

Why don't you study the facts on AMG's new '63' V8 before saying that.

Big displacement engines don't need to rev high. That's AMG's philosophy: big torquey motors, not high-reving.

well, the 6.2 liter engine is heavy I guess...
basically I want AMG cars to lighten their kerb weights --> then they can be awesome-handling rockets!!!!
