BMW's key reason for their M-Amazing success?
BMW was the first of the German automakers to establish a performance brand-within-a-brand, BMW Motorsport, which is responsible for the cars that carry the M nameplate. Although AMG, the tuner division of Mercedes-Benz, technically predates BMW M, it did not offer a factory-backed Mercedes in the United States until 1993. Read Article

I assume the 2000 in your user name refers to your year of birth.

Yes, that's why an M3 retails for more than twice the price of an EVO.

I don't get ricers. Putting performance parts on Civics and Lancers... those are chick cars.

Take away the EVO's turbo, traction control, all-wheel-drive and whatever other electronic driver counter measures it has and it's just another econobox. A BMW on the other hand will always be a thoroughbred driving machine.

@ Need4Speed.....take away a BMWs turbo(335 & 535), traction control, and other electronic devices that keep it planted on the road, and race it against the so-called "econobox" EVO, and you'd be lucky to make it 100 meters down the road at full throttle...the BMW would be a talentless brick. Of course, this would be the case for any car.

The IS-F will be as competitive as Toyota was at the JGTC and WRC.

Toyota is gonna kick ass, the only people who are gonna drive these messed up BMW's are wannabe rappers.

The E30/M3 still stands as the finest handling vehicle the M division has yet produced, and there's not a day that goes by that I don't regret selling mine.

@Need4Speed

Don't be a hater because the M3 gets its ass kicked by a 4 banger.

LOL...when that day comes then I'll have a reason to be a hater! Until then my comment stands. Besides if you need all wheel drive to beat a two wheel drive then you couldn't have been all that good in the first place!

Congratulations, you've proven -to your own delight- that BMW was first. Again, congratulations.

MB existed before Ferrari, yet the Ferrari name alone is viewed as legendary compared to MB. So where does the 'me first' ideaology come into play? IT DOESN'T!

Someone other than Audi -supposedly GM- introduced AWD, yet Audi took it to new heights and made it its own and has made classic AWD cars, S1 Quattro and R8 just to name two. Again, does the 'me first' ideology come into play. I think not.

It's not who comes up with the idea, it's who puts in the work and embraces it, develops it, refines it, perfects it (no copying mind you, as Toyota does) that counts. So you want to be number one, great, give me your address and I'll send you a nice balloon.

When will we get smarter, entertaining (at least), informative posts? without having to suffer through this demeaning articles?
