BMW stopping Z4 production in August
The low value of the U.S. dollar against the Euro has forced BMW to change its production plans for the next-generation Z4 sports car.

At the moment the Z4 is built alongside the X5 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, but the new model, due late next year, will be built in Germany, most likely at BMW’s Regensburg plant.

The extra capacity at Spartanburg is needed for the new X6 as well as the next-generation X3, which will also see production in the U.S. for the first time when it arrives in 2010.

Wow, didnt expect that response. Chill out agents, etc. - I wasnt hating on the car. If you like the way it looks, you simply have bad taste.

I'm sure the next Z4 will be a fine sports car; BUT I can't figure out why the front end has to be so elongated. The distance from the driver to the front wheels seems to be excessive. Not nearly as bad as the proportions of the upcoming McLaren SLR roadster which is an abomination.

It feels really strange too. The combination of rear seating and an awkward suspension package with the runflats (which I heard they tweaked in the next model year), and I felt very insecure on familiar canyon roads. To me it felt like I was riding BEHIND the car. Since then I've always had a bit of a chuckle when I see a Z4 go by--did the owner actually test drive the car or just buy it for the BMW badge?

How long until the new one is no longer amazing, like the old one is now?

Well, it all depends on how closely your parents are related, or how much of your brain has been eaten by swamp parasites...

Come on. This car never excelled at anything besides making guys look like they're driving their wifes car. You can't really mean that?

I did like the Coupe though. Strange.

Thanks for the unfounded (and juvenile and idiotic) personal attack, MadibaP. If you've ever been around here for amazinbigot's posts, you'd know my comment was to him more than the car.

Why don't you attempt to post something of substance instead of sticking your nose in where you don't know what is going on?

How sad...

I'm sure literally tens of women will be disappointed once Good Housekeeping breaks the news.

This car blows ass. Wait, production is over? Correction: it blew ass.

As much as I dislike the new BMWs, it's not as though they're discontinuing the car, production is just moving to Germany (so much for bitching that the dollar is too low).
