The media is so annoying.

Granted Pontiac will likely be gone, but CNN and Fox are both running with this story before GM has officially announced it.

At what point do you think I could get a new G8 GXP for under $10K? That is the only thing they make right now that deserves the Pontiac badge.

OO1 that is a great pic you got there. The GTO is one of my all time favs. I am a little older than most of the guys that surf this site so a I can still remember when some of these were either new or slightly used. As far as the one in the pic it was about five years old when I saw my first one. I really wanted one of these by the time I hit forty but it didnt happen due to the elevated pricing that started about ten to 15 years old with the baby boomers blowing up the prices of all classics. I have read a few articles that some of the cars may suffer the same fate as the housing bubble. I hope that the GTO is one of them.

I would rather see GM sell it and get a little cash then scuttle it. The Pontiac name has a long history and like Oldsmobile it deserves to survive.It would be better off out of the GM umbrella.

there is good news related to this: this means chevrolet will have a model built on the g8's zeta platform. in other words, the g8 gets restyled without the ugly pontiac grille and hideous hood scoops. google photos of the current chevrolet lumina (arabian world's g8), and you'll find the chevrolet grille does wonders for this car.

Its so sad that this had to happen. Pontiac had such history in muscle cars etc. What a waste! Its so frustrating seeing this happen to companies with such long history and then nothing. I hope the US does not go the way of the british when it comes to cars. All the major brands got sold to foreign investors. MG, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Rover, you get the picture. I just hope the US doesn't follow this route. The auto world is not exciting without balance.

I was only joking guys. I have plenty of fun with my Hyundai Hatchbacks toolatetorace. You Boomers had all the fun, and we have to clean up all of the messes. Its just strange you guys taught us to clean up our messes at preschool, yet you never did it yourselves.

Blaniac, Actually we should be trying buy Chrysler or Mitsubishi. Think about it, They use some of our Hyundai/KIA parts in their cars such as starters and alternators. Mitsubuishi is getting even more extensive with using our parts, in all of their cars now they use Hyundai/KIA engine block and crankshaft components.

1. We could use Chrysler to build Futuristic supercars.

2. We could use them to test experimental techonolgies involving Elecrtic powertrains.

3. We could use Dodge as our Truck maker and dirt cheap car maker.

4. If we bought Mitsubishi we can even get deeper into our relationship of Race Car Tech sharing with them.

This Alliance would be called GEMA Motors, and it would be based in Seoul.

Hyundai would be the Affordable Luxury Marque'.

Chrysler would be our American Lamborghini/Zonda/Koegingssegg on one end, and be our Bentley/Rolls Royce on the other end.

KIA would make the middle of the road Toyota/Honda machines.

Mitsubuishi would be our Race Tech Niche Company.

Dodge should be our truck and Jeep Maker.

GM, I expect my executive cheque in the mail. We had this discussion a year or so ago on an AutoLies forum.

Cadillac upscale, Buick midrange, Chevy trucks (except Vette and Camaro), change Saturn to Opel (like they should've done originally) for entry level. GMC becomes special edition trim level in 5 years when people forget they used to make cars.
The only thing I'd change actually is to make Buick as an overseas export-only and Pontiac as US only.

No wonder GM is hurting if it "Wa-goner" this long to implement my plan.

huu, you know damm well thats not going to happen dawg. They will Force Chevy to be the entry level, Cadillac be the top of the line upscale, Buick Near Luxury, GMC to make Luxury Trucks. Saturn will be sold to a Chinese, Indian, or even European or Korean buyer. Pontiac will be Sold to the highest bidder.

GM to sell Pontiac....Who would want it? Not for the "dealer network"...how many stand alone Pontiac dealers are there? Not many...most are Buick Pontiac GMC
If sold with Saturn (Throwing Hummer and Saab in for free?) Maybe...Most likely NOT...Wishful Thinking and Bad Journalism meet at FOX
