Shockingly, things have become even worse at Toyota Motor Co.

Just hitting the net moments ago, more models have been added to the list.

They include: 2008-2010 Highlander, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Venza, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe.

If you have one of these vehicles, Spies, be aware of what is going on.

To quote Al Pacino, "...just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."

CNN reports:

"New York (CNNMoney.com) -- Toyota announced Wednesday night that it is adding another 1.1 million vehicles to an an earlier 4.2 million vehicle recall originally announced in November.

The vehicles are being recalled to fix a problem in which the gas pedal can become caught on the edge of the removable floormat, causing the vehicle to accelerate uncontrollably.

The vehicles now being added to that recall are the 2008-2010 Highlander, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Venza 2009-2010 Matrix, 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe..."

Why aren't they taking lexus cars off of the road, too? I see these cars everyday driven by oblivious people who I am sure have no idea how to put their car into neutral when it starts having runaway acceleration. It is dangerous for the rest of us to be on the road with these cars. Toylex, do your duty and get these deathtraps off of the road!!!

The pedals made by American company CTS are part of the recall, but not the pedals made by Japan-based Denso. Hence Lexus is not as affected. Toyota should just use Denso parts and fire CTS. Sorry to say that American parts are not as good as Japanese.

It's relevant because people died! Isn't that what 1UAW was constantly bitching about or at least what he's been using to fuel his relentlessly crusade to take Toyota down? Like I said, 1UAW likes to use dead people to win arguements, he doesn't give a damn. Why would he dismiss those thousands that died in those GM POS built be lazyass Union labor so easily?

I don't believe it is the pedal assembly. If toyota had accelerator cutout electronics like other manufacturers then they would not be in this mess!

I still wonder how many accidents (deaths) have occurred and we have not heard about it because the witness of the unintended acceleration is not around to tell us what happened.

Good point. If a fatal accident is reported and they just claim that "speed was the factor", it could be the recall issue. (if its a Toyota)

Come to think of it, Hulk Hogans son could reopen his case and claim his 700hp+ Supra sped up causing car to slide out of control(while he was drag racing someone) and put his best friend in a coma because of unintended acceleration.

toyota always stood for quality. that's why people bought the cars. it was never about styling or fun-to-drive or performance. it's always been about quality. it's painfully apparent that the quality gap has been closed. american cars have improved enormously and toyota has gone downhill. they seem to have met in the middle. so what's the point in buying a toyota?

How are these new cars? Their the same ones on the 2.3 million car recall.
Why don't they just save everybody some time and tally all the floormats and pedals and then double it. Of course, they wouldn't be able to sensationalize it would they?
The more this drags on the wayit is, the better it works for Toyota as people read the same crap over and over again. There's hardly been any outrage reported, just numbers.

The media is going out of its way to help the UAW out. I see AutoLies has failed to mention Ford's joint venture in China has stopped production because they use pedals from the same manufacturer. Miniscule in number and probably nothing to worry about, but had it been vice versa, it would've been on AutoLies in an instant.

Two people miffed, one atleast 65yo, the other 84yo. Its not as though geriatrics have never rundown young people because they couldn't tell the difference between a brake and a gas pedal.

To shed some light on this type of recall, Audi's recall back in the 80s was concluded to have been drivers hitting the gas pedal instead of the brake on startup, not because of any faulty engineering.
