Bentley’s Future: New Arnage in 2010, facelift for Flying Spur in 2009
Sales of Bentley’s lowest-priced models such as the Continental GT, Flying Spur and the GTC Convertible are still going strong. The Bentley Continental GT Coupe has allowed Bentley to have most of the sales of ultra-luxury cars in the United States leaving behind competitors such as the Maybach and BMW’s Rolls-Royce.

However, a redesign for its bigger and more expensive model, the Arnage, is several years away. Bentley hopes the next Arnage will be a strong competitor to Rolls-Royce.

I hope they keep the old 6.75 litre engine for the next Arnage.

I hope so too but an acceptable alternative for me would be the new 500 h.p. V-12 diesel from the Audi Q7. I hope they retain the overall look of the Arnage and use the interior styling of the Brookland's Coupe with lots of gauges on the instrument panel. I would also like to see the Arnage adopt an aluminum body so it can be passed down to the next generation rust-free. BTW, I have no plans to spend that kind of money for a vehicle.

A diesel or hybrid Bentley (or any Bentley with concessions towards fuel economy) is wrong. Bentley engines are all about excess.

I hope they give it the same attention to detail that abounds in the Phantom Drophead, but I want it to blow the Rollers away in terms of sex appeal and performance.

"500 h.p. V-12 diesel from the Audi Q7"

A engine sharing between the Flagship Bentley and An Audi.

Very funny.I don't see it happening.
If yes then Bentley is definately lowering itself.

Engine sharing is already occuring...the V12 (w-12 really) in the Continental/Flying Spur is merely a turbocharged version of the W-12 in the Audi A8, VW Phaeton, and the VW Toureg (middle east markets).

Architecture sharing is what allowed Bentley to be born in the first place...the Continental/Flying Spur is basically a Phaeton under its skin.

I don't see it happening either but I want it to happen because that 500 H.p. V-12 diesel is a superior engine and has the torque that Bentley needs to maintain its performance reputation. Can you imagine the acceleration the heavy Bentley would enjoy with that engine. Rupert associates that diesel with fuel economy. I agree that Bentley can afford excess but fuel economy is a bonus as it increases range between fill-ups during long road trips. Between terrorists and airline cost-cutting on maintenance, I still prefer to drive rather than fly although I concede that air travel is actually cheaper.

With its combination of exhilarating performance, luxury, craftsmanship and four-door practicality the 12-cylinder Continental Flying Spur has been at the forefront of Bentley's revitalisation since its launch in 2005 and the range is now refined and expanded with two highly distinctive models. It so great just like other Cargo Liners
