Bentley to use Audi hybrid system?
Bentley is due to replace the Arnage in 2010 but is facing strict new emissions standards set to arrive a couple of years after the launch of the flagship. Wanting to keep the current 6.75L V8, the company is looking at the EU6 emission limits due to arrive in 2013-2015 as their target for the new model. The engine is based on a design that goes back almost 50 years but officials aren’t looking at letting it retire just yet.

To reach the strict emissions target engineers may implement a hybrid option using a system developed by Audi.

They should just built a better engine. Or borrow one from Audi, any FSI will do.

Whatever...

I'm a longtime BMW owner (numerous over the past 20 years), as I'd think many of us are in here, so despite all your rantings/propaganda, many know they're little more than just another vehicle option, and not at all anything so special as to render all competitors obsolete.

Geez!

The Rolls-Royce V12 (used from the BMW 760) isn't nearly as good as the Bentley twin-turbo W12 (Audi A8L W12).

S4.. I'd also say the Audi has a more spectacular engine concept (a W engine config) but BMW is still a better engine builder than any of its competitors. Only Mercedes beats it on V8 and V12 engines (but only slightly). The RR BMW V12 is just magic. It's probably the smoothest engine in the world (definitely smoother than a W12 which) with it's twin naturally balanced straight six engines coupled with direct injection (first ever)!

But when you start incalculating power, torque, weight, performance and sound the W12 is overall the most efficient. But not the best sounding, nor the smoothest or whatever.

But it's like comparing 3 supermodels, they are all beautiful and have their own character:

Merc V12 (amazing engine with even more amazing technology and figures. Takes the top spot)
Audi W12 (brilliant design, compact, lightweight. With 450 hp it's very quick as well. Overall a stunning engine and definitely something special)
BMW V12 (amazing technology, super-smooth, more torque than the slightly more powerful Audi, fantastic powerband and the best sound of all 3.)

I think the V12 in the RR totally fits its character. It's smooth, torquey and quiet. The Bentley is more sporty so a twin-turbo setup works well.

the audi hybrid engine is the same as the VW and porsche hybrid engine, last year some article said that all three will combine and share techology, much like if Rolls Royce had a Hybrid it would be related to the Hybrid engines of Mercedes/BMW/GM. No big deal

The news here is that Bentley is going to use a hybrid, not that Audi is supplying it. Enough hating.

And anyway... Audi develops almost all of the new technology in the VW Group, not VW, and certainly not Porsche.
