Best 2007 Mid-size sedan?
I have recently bought the Fusion. I really think I got a great deal. People driving around have been looking at the car n been commenting. Even people surround the car at the grocery store. I always loved the great comments. All my friends were like the car is Hot! I mean people look at it more then my uncle's Mercedes-Benz S-500 and there are only 2! We were the first people to get the Fusion and now there are 8 of them, 3 Camrys, 2 Accords (2007) There alot of Sonatas though. I got the fusion in Charcoal Beige Metallic and a Camel interior. Now my point is give me your opinion on whats better? Here is my list:

Honda Accord
Ford Fusion/ Mercury Milan
Toyota Camry
Hyundai Sonata

Best 2007 Mid-size sedan?

I'd rather have a safe vehicle than a Fusion/Milan/MKZ. The Accord and Camry are fine, but boring. I'd take the Accord over the Camry. Sonata I heard is initailly fine, but long-term problems are reported by Edmunds and CD I think. It also needs refining.
What about the G6, Altima, Malibu, Galant, 9-3,and Passat?
-I'd take the 270 hp Altima, thank you. It will leave the others in the dust.

Toyota Camry. The Honda Accord was better than the old Camry, but the new Camry is a better car. I'll have to wait for the new Accord to come out before I say more - but the Camry is definitely the best in this category.

I would take the Mazdaspeed 6 in reality though.

In Car&Driver test Camry won!

And the Camry also won the Edmudns.com test as well.

The Altima is not in the same league as the Toyota and Honda - because the only thing it has is the suspension and engine. Everything else in the Altima is not close to what the Camry and Accord offer (Also the engine - Toyota matches it and the new Accord will get closer to it, its just the sporty suspension - not the most important thing in a midsize family car).

I'd take an Accord EX V6 six-speed coupe.

The Fusion is below par in many aspects.

Agreed on the Altima.

Hyundai is not spelled "Hyndia" :)

The new S-Class, SL, CL and CLS are all very eye-catching cars. High style, and high bold factor.

Although I don't love the way the new Altima looks (I saw it on the road) and I think Nissan has lost its way a bit, it's an impressive car. Also, most people forget the Mazdaspeed 6.

And the VW Passat, which is the most luxurious car in its class and the most powerful (280hp). Even the normal 2.0T version is more than adequate. It commands a premium for a reason.

S-class, SL, CL and CLS??? Yeah like a person who's going to buy one of those is going to consider a Altima, vice versa.

Mazdaspeed 6 is the best here if you want a sport sedan.

kart1- I wasn't comparing them to the Altima! houstoncutie said that Mercedes cars weren't eye-catching any more, so I told him/her that they made some of the most stylish models on the market.

houstoncutie-

And when is an Altima or Passat owner EVER going to drive their car at 130-146mph? I sure wouldn't.

That's because you're biased towards Toyota. What does the Camry have that the Altima does not? Exactly.

The Camry is the best family mid-size sedan period. The others have more in the sport category, but when it comes to family sedans - the camry is the best. When doing family sedan comparison tests all auto reviewers and editors always recommend the camry first, of course they don't want one themselves because they want the sportier car. The Camry has better resale value, better build quality, better reliability, smoother engine, smoother ride, and better fuel economy. Look at these features it may not seem important to you, but they are essentials for a family sedan.

Out of midsized sedans, I would probably choose the Nissan Altima. More fun to drive than the Accord and Camry and reliability that ALMOST is as good as honda or toyota.

VW Passat is nice, but feel it competes more with the Maxima and Toyota Avalon.

No offense to the Toyota fans, but the Camry is heavily overrated in my book. You have a powerful V6 engine in a FWD setup with a floaty suspension: my question is, WHY? The average Camry buyer will never use those near 300-hp. The Camry could be more fuel efficient if it had a "reasonable" powered V6.

If I was considering reliability and value and STYLE, the Hyundai Sonata would be my choice. To me, it looks a million times better than the Camry, Accord, Mazda 6 and other competitors in this class.

you can get these midsize cars with 280hp!
thats so much compared to here, nobody sells them. i beleive the most powerful toyota avensis (same size as a camry, but for europe) is 174hp! and thats a 2 litre diesel!

WillisWillis - 11/19/2006 6:04:39 PM
+4 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
Americans want power, and lots of it. A 174-hp diesel in this segment would not sell well here since the typical American consumer wants almost 300-hp in their mainstreamer without ever knowing why.

Europe is more efficient and smarter in their car buying habits.

"The Camry and Sonata have "style." The Fusion, Accord, and Altima do not."

Will, I understand you're a Lexus fan.

But going far as to say the Camry is stylish?

That's ridiculous.

You don't have to love EVERY Toyota that's on the market. I don't like the VW Beetle, or the non-GLI Jetta.

The truly stylish cars in this class are the Altima, Accord, Mazda6 and Passat. They're also the only makers that know how to make well-engineered family cars. Out of that quartet, I'd either pick the Accord or Passat, because I like Hondas and the Passat's interior is fabulous for this price range.

The Passat is more of the Avalon territory and if you are considering the Passat - I'd take the Chrysler 300.

Speaking of Ford, I just saw James Bond, and Fords were all over it! Everytime you looked, there was a Aston Martin, Jaguar, Range Rover or Ford (Mondeo). They seriously need to spend their money elsewhere...

And, there was a Jaguar XJ in EVERY car scene. Not ONE without it.

If you looked closely, there were two RR Sports that were shown over and over again, a normal Range Rover, and an XJR and a Super V8. They also had a ton of Bentley Continentals and Flying Spurs. That DBS was sweet! The DB5 was even sweeter!

In order of preference

Camry
Altima
Mazda 6
Accord
Sonata
Fusion
Galant

I had the opportunity to test drive the Camry hybrid, and it was smooth like butter. The Altima has the brawn, and the Mazda is the sportiest of the bunch. Accord is "okay" I think the design looks outdated.

i never said the Sonata, Sebring, or Gallant were stylish, either.

The Sonata is at least inoffensive.

The Camry is simply ugly. Especially from the front. The SE looks like a joke.

I personally like the Camry's looks...especially the SE V6 version. Although its a Camry, it looks pretty damn sporty.
