Best Luxury Sports SUV???
This week I was trying to figure out which Luxury Sports SUV looked the best, both inside and out, and which most people would want if they were given the opportunity to have one. So, every1 just shout out what you like and why.

BMW X5M, Porsche Cayenne Turbo (or Turbo S) , Range Rover Supercharged, ML63AMG, G55AMG, are my picks.

I would say The Cayenne Turbo S would be my #1 choice, as it has the engineering of a Porsche, The weight of a mack truck (unfortunately), IMO, the most aggressive front end of any SUV out there, but I must say, I absolutely hate the side, shape and size of the vehicle, not to mention its immense similarities to its twin the, Toaureg, not to mention its named after a spice, but nonetheless, 550BHP is amazing, it has a full leather interior, (the worse nav. IMO), and a nice Porsche Crest, which I feel is more exclusive and more prestige than a BMW Roundel, MB Star. Your thoughts everyone....

Best Luxury Sports SUV???

Isn't the X5 a SAV?

Personally I like how the Range Rover Supercharged looks. I imagine the Porsche is the fastest though.

The X5 comment is meant to be a joke... the X5M isn't out yet right? Or even announced?

I'd go with the Cayenne GTS as well -- you can get it with a manual tranny.

ML63 AMG would get my vote. In my opinion, it is the best all around performer and the best value.

I have to go with the Cayenne GTS. It has turbo looks and saves $30K. And also because I just bought one.

With the exception of the X5, all the ones you listed have severe engineering problems. The Porsche with the VW electrical problems, and the rest with just maintainence - the Rover being the least reliable.

They all look great, but I probably would only get the X5 if I had the choice.

The Cayenne would probably the fastest and most fun to drive.

It really depends on how you define "best." If you define it by how the car rides/performs, than I agree. But as far as best to own, not so much.

i agree. the Q7 4.2 is a beautiful suv (4.2 because it doesn't have the grey bottom not because of performance). i don't like suv's in general but if i had to haul the kids and dog around then that is what i would want to haul them in.

honestly, i don't get all the hype of these performance suv's. isn't that like an oxy-moron? it's the modern day station wagon (go ahead and start de-boosting).

I would have to agree the Q7 is the choice for me also. I like the X5 but it looks as if they made it smaller than the previous model I think it needs to be bigger. the Q7 is a nice package overall I do like the porsche its an eyecatcher when you see it on the road especially with the porsche 22 inch wheel package on it.

The new X5 is about 20 CM longer than the old one - and it's a much bigger car all round.

The top two luxury sports SUV's in the market are the ML63 and the Porsche Cayenne.

The ML63 looks very aggressive and has lightning quick acceleration. You also can't ignore the fact that it has one of the best sounding exhaust notes in the SUV world.

Cayenne Turbo/GTS looks better in person than in photos especially the GTS. It is also very fast as well.

Trust me, if the X5M will have a tuned version of the current 4.4 tt, then BMW is wasting their time.

When was the last time they actually tuned a normal BMW engine and made it into an M?

Which leads me to suspect that, it will be much more powerful than only 430 hp, which is weaker than the old cayenne turbo!

Yes, and the X6 managed to beat the Cayenne GTS ( both with similar hp numbers ) on a track, so who knows.

Yes, decreasing weight does cost alot of money, but M cars usually also have a big hp advantage over their non M siblings.

Oh, and the Cayenne GTS is totally different from the Cayenne S. It is more powerful (405hp) and track orrientated.

For me, it is definetly the BMW X6, or rumoured X6M.
It beat the Porsche Cayenne GTS in a recent article posted on autospies, so assuming the X6M will be more powerful, lighter, and has better handling, I see the Turbo S in trouble.

Not only is it fast, but it's also the best looking SUV (SAC, whatever). In comparison to the other cars compared, it makes them look boxy and heavy.

The interior is also a class leader. The 4.4 tt version which comes with stiched leather on the dashboard puts the rest of the SUVs to shame in terms of quality and style.

Just my humble opinion..

Homer, the Cayenne GTS isn't the same as the Cayenne S. The GTS is a more track oriented version of the Cayenne S and has 405hp out of its naturally aspirated V8.

Also, if (and it's a big "if" since they've refused to do so for so long) BMW decides to make an X5/X6 M, expect it to have more than 430hp. Why? Because the regular X6 xDrive50i already has 400. That "regular" engine will also make its way into the X5 at some point, as well as the new 750 and 550. So the M versions would need to have more than 430hp if the regular cars are getting 400, and since a tuned version of that V8TT is expected to also power the new M5/M6 (which already have 500hp), expect it to produce in the neighborhood of 550hp.

Why would you want to drive a tank? How about the people around you, what if they get hit by your tank?
