There is no doubt tha BMW needs an R8 competitor. If this photochop is really a BMW concept with those sexy lines and it goes into production then the R8 will simply become nothing but a rebadged VW. Now, I think the R8 is sexy, but the aggressiveness of this M10 will tear the Audi in pieces on looks alone, and on the track, of course.

And if the m10 doesn't go into production will the R8 be an audi or a rebadged VW? Don't be a hater because Audi beet BMW to the punch on the super car.

that's a nice photochop, but it's nothing more than a body kit on a Z4. I would hope they would design an entirely new vehicle. The photochop looks nice, but I'd be very pissed at BMW if they just bodykitted the Z4 and sold it as an M10.

Can't wait for the thing to be unveiled... I wonder whether it will be center motor or front motor... And what engine they are going to use?! Will it be a new V12, the S85 V10 or maybe the S65 V8... Or maybe all of the above!

GTR35, you need to get over the fact that VM owns Audi because you sound like a brainwashed hater. I suppose that Lambo, Bugatti, & Bentley are just nothing more than rebadged VW's if you're premise holds true.

Why don't they just drop the M5 engine into a 6xx?

If you're talking about the 6-series (645/650) they already have, it's called the M6. There's a coupe and cabriolet version available.

What is the source that published the image. If it is from the German magazine Auto Zeitung, I wouldn't take it too seriously since they are an unreliable source.

And again, BMW will be late to the game. Seems to be an emerging pattern with Audi wiping their ass with BMW. First BMW had to put a V8 into the new M3 to keep up with the RS4 and now they realize they have to come up with something to match the R8. Not to mentioned that the S6 with signifiacnlty less hp only lost by .1 seconds to the M5 around the track. It was posted here a while ago if you missed it. The upcoming RS6 will leave the M5 in the dust. It's just sad that all you BMW lemmings hang on to your status symbols not realzing that competitors like Audi do more with less. I call that beautiful engineering. BTW, I did own BMWs before and they are sweet cars, but let's just keep it real!

and the rs4 had to use a v8 to keep up with the amg c-class...c'mon...

It went S4 (V8) then C55 (V8) THEN RS4 (V8). Audi certainly didn't copy Mercedes in that respect.

no you would be wrong, mercedes started the v8 in this class with the c43amg, so no it wasnt audi the v8 model s4 was a 2004 model, but the cadillac cts-v was also a 2004

The V8 Audi S4 is from 2002.

The old RS4 with the TT V6 was by the way already faster then eany C-class produced to date.

no check your facts the 2002 audi s4 was a carry over model, it was still a 6 cylinder

Check your own facts, the V8 S4 was launched in 2002 in Europe. At the time the M3 and C32 where both out for a year, both with 6 cilinder engines.

Not to burst your buble, but the C43 AMG is from '97... Which was back in the days when Audi was still fidling with turbos to keep up...

+1 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
Yeah and after they dropped the V8 they started fidling with superchargers to keep up.

There's a lot of ignorance and brand bias on here, so much so it borders on ridiculous sometimes. You'll notice neither BMW nor Mercedes have an R8 competitor right now. Do you know why that is? It has nothing to do with the R8, it has to do with the 911. Many years ago the "big" German brands came up with a gentlemans agreement not to come out with a car to rival the 911 due to Porsche's "boutique" size as a manufacturer and the iconic status of the 911 (similar to the agreement they made to limit the top speeds of their cars to 155mph to keep Autobahn speeds under control). Now that Audi, which is owned by VW which is controlled by Porsche, has breached that agreement, BMW and Mercedes are coming out with their own. That's all, plain and simple.

This Photoshop obviously was done without the "help" of Adrian Van HooyDORK, or Christof Bangle.

I can only pray that someone with these Photoshop skills would replace those guys and bring BMW back from design hell.

HA! This car seriously dosent look unique. the R8 looks like nothing else. Its design is amazing. BMW needs to design something unique aswell, not just throw a few agressive lines on an M3 look alike and a huge engine.

I'd rather that it drives well than it looks unique... And I really don't think the car will look anything like that rendering... That thing looks nothing like a mid engined car

There have been some photoshops of the next Z10 (blue colour). I like that photoshop more. So what will they call it... Z10 or M10? Or perhaps Z10 and Z10M? Either way I cant wait to see BMW's answer for the SLR and the R8 (knowing the SLR is freaking expensive).

Competition is good, and I think the R8 is one of those cars that look special. BMW will have a hard time trying to beat it.

The engine maybe the same engine the CS concept it assumed to have, a 650hp V12 or something similar. They may also put the S60 V10 in there.

Oh Please stop the compare. If you can not afford and SLR, then R8, or if they do it, M10 could be a good alternative. R8 is a wonderful car for the price. If BMW do something like M10, I think that will not attempt to beat the SLR but the R8, (and Remember With the money of an SLR I can buy 4 R8 and SLR have lamost 200 extra HP). BMW have no models against R8 or SLR right now but the are looking for money. I love Mrecedes But If I am the Lead at BMW, I do not care If You want to beat the SLR, I would order to beat the R8 because there is more money in that sector of the market. Also BMW is good doing comercial sport cars (M3 and M5) and most of the time fail when try Superexclusive cars , i.e. BMW M8 and Z8.
