It is claimed by the Bavarian carmaker BMW that it is the first to offer customer the option of viewing the up-to-date precipitation for any German location via a graphic display on the LCD screen of their vehicles.

This latest service, called ConnectedDrive system, is offered by BMW as a further development of the car’s existing weather forecast capabilities. BMW says that there are two zoom settings available on the precipitation displays which are updated every 15 minutes and display the geographical distribution of rain, snow or hail. But that’s not all. Beginning July 2009 BMW said that it will add a menu option called Precipitation Pattern which will provide cloud movement representation in animation which will cover the preceding 90 minute period.
