Brand Spankin’ New Images: Lexus IS-F in Pearl White
We were kind of getting sick of seeing the Lexus IS-F in that crazy metallic blue color but thanks to the folks over at Jalopnik, who were at the Pebble Beach Concours, we get to see new images of the Lexus IS-F burning some rubber in a sexy pearl white.
The Lexus IS-F will be powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine that produces more than 400 horsepower and 350 ft-lbs. of torque giving the car the ability to do 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

You have just declared yourself to be a moron. The IS-F is a boring car because it's an ugly also-ran M3 wannabe. Bentleys on the other hand are beatiful and powerful. If you think a Continental GT or a Brooklands is boring, then you should be shot.

I think the F is a random insignia put out by lexus to compete, a la Cadillac V-series.
I mean, Audi's S means Sport, BMW M means Motorsport, MB's AMG is the founder of the tuning company. I would also like to know what the F stand for...

You are wrong. F is a moniker given by Lexus to cars of special note, as it was first given to the very 1st LS back in the late 80's. It does not stand for fast.

I used to think that the "F" in Lexus' concept cars stood for "future", LFS = Lexus Future Sedan.
But the ISF will be a production vehicle, so I'm not sure what "F" in the F line of cars relates to.

Yet still a couple of remarks:
- the wheels are all wrong for this car, they need to have fewer spokes

- that F-badge on the bootlit looks totally ridiculous

I don't think they'll have too many takers on this one, especially if the price is over $50k.
Think about it: the core Lexus consumer isn't really interested in performance, and they aren't looking for a car like this.
BMW/Audi/MB loyalists (the kind of consumers who do like performance cars like this) would never buy this car, and this car just doesn't have the looks or the goods to reel in undecided buyers when obviously better choices are available (M3, C63, S4)
I think that a Lexus branded performance sedan is as good an idea as a VW branded $70k luxury sedan. Who is going to buy this car?

I totally agree with Pushrod. I like Lexus a lot. I am not however going to go buy a "performance Lexus".
If i want a performance luxury car I will buy a BMW. If i want to be isolated from the road and want good value I will buy a Lexus.
It's a pretty cool car and I'm sure it hauls ass but it just seems like a teenager going through a phase or something.

Sorry, I have to post again because it just seems to get better! If this is you being thoughtful or something, then you just SUCK and thinking.
How can something be so damn obvious if we don't even know how much horsepower the IS-F has?
Please tell me.
It took a C&D comparison between 8 or so sports sedans to figure out that the IS 350 only comes within one (1) point of the 3-series. Also, who would have thought that an X-package IS 250 is faster than the 335i? Things aren't so obvious now are they? Or, are they only obvious when you make shit up for your own pitiful satisfaction?

I forgot about the CTS-V. The Cadillac will surely out-muscle and probably out-sell the IS-F. Lexus has NO performance credibility. Cadillac doesn't either, but people know that the CTS-V uses a Corvette V8, so they make the connection and accept it.

"Corvette v8" - u mean the LS-7, which is a 7.0 liter SOHC pushrod v8. This may seem like a good buy in your neck of the woods. But despite their use of titanium, and some nice power numbers its no hot ticket in the import markets.

izfunney, the ls7 is a pushrod, and therefore is not SOHC, though it does only have one camshaft it is not overhead, it is in the block. Also, that motor kicks ass.

I'm surprised that nobody knows that the Lexus "F" stands for "Finesse". If I remember correctly the Lexus Finesse design philosophy started with the latest redesign of the IS done by world renowned Italian designed Leonardo Fioravanti (note the LF initials!) formerly of Pininfarina, Ferrari and Fiat.
As for my personal opinion, the LF-A is a nice try from Lexus, but it will be a while before they reach the level of M3/RS4. They have the advantages of solid reliability and luxury at reasonable price, but they lack experience when it comes to sports cars. It will take a bit of time for them to get it right.

I just dont get it. I could afford one, but why in the hell would I buy one. If you could have a car that spanks your $$$ then what the hell is your car actually worth. The reason you people are so afraid of tuners is that you kow eventually they will take over the market.

I dont see what the "Autobahn" has to do with motoring or passion for that matter, its not a challenging road to drive or particularly interesting one.
In Europe, its the Italians who rule in design, and performance cars especially in terms of pure passion.
The germans excel in engineering solid cars. While they do have a alot of fast cars, they tend to be heavy and solid. Porsche is another story .. for another post.
