WoW, lifetime? It seems that Chrysler's powertrains are no that robust.

This is interesting for people who drive high mileage. E.G. 60,000 miles a year. If I had a job that made me drive 60-80,000 miles a year, I would buy a Chrysler product.

Otherwise, most people trade cars in every 5 years.

Anyone ever own a Doge Ram 1500? I have know 3 people with MAJOR tranny issues, not to mention what i read about them online. This is a bone thrown out to people to help generate loyalty. Glad they did too--they needed to do something

I wonder who else caught that. The years aren't all that important after about 7 years...the milage is.

Just curious, I wonder how this will affect fleet's. I know the get different deals than the average joe buying a car off the street, however I would assume they would have a similar deal with Chrysler.

This might not bode well with the car renting public. If I were a fleet company and could by a car that would never need major maintenece issues, I would buy in bulk and never trade up. Hertz already dominates the market as it pertains to modern and fun vehicles so if I were everyone else I shoot for the low buck.

06gs300,

I agree about the other parts but if you drive 60,000 miles a year? An A/C or light switches is not going to break in 2 years while you have coverage on an engine that has 120,000 miles.
Like I said, if you drive high miles, this is a good deal. A Jeep Wrangler Unlimited sounds nice right about now.

For argument sakes, lets compare a ES350 vs a 300C. Sure the Lexus is a better car. But if you drive 60,000 miles a year, the warranty on your Lexus would have expired in 9 months. Powertrain and bumper to bumper would be void.

At that point, a 300C seems very attractive to a travelling salesman.

Again, I am just saying that this is a win-win for high mileage driver.

Sounds like ANOTHER gimmick...The key is that the warranty is NOT transferable...once the car is sold or transferred to a new owner, they get the remainder of a 3/36 warranty.

Good catch. And something within the powertrain rarely breaks down on a car within 5 years these days unless its owner drives it into the ground with out proper maintenance. Most car issues now are more so electrical than mechanical, again only going by a car thats been properly maintained. So this whole lifetime warranty stuff doesn't seem that big of a deal to me.

Who made this decision, DCX or Cerberus? I'm guessing DCX. So how might Cerberus feel about this? Could this be a last minute monkey wrench thrown into negotiations? I mean who wants to buy a company with all these potetntial outstanding expenses awaiting them.

In this competitive market you need to cut through the clutter of mainstream cars. This does that.

I'll consider a hyundai BEFORE a DCX product. (except a wrangler, 300 srt8 and charger srt8)

Well Chrysler, you may just have found another customer with this warranty as my next car will be my last car and I plan to drive it into the ground. You need to publish the exact terms and conditions of this warranty as I will not be fooled by the cost of keping the warranty in force. I understand that certain regular maintenance and inspections are required. Is there a cost cap for this? It is also important to know which corporate entity will be esponsible for honoring warranty claims. I do not want that warranty unless it is from a corporate entity that has sufficient financial resources and plans to be around for a while.
