According to the latest report from Car and Driver, it appears that the sport version of the Lexus IS C Convertible, unveiled back in 2008 at the Paris Motor Show, will be built and make its official debut in early 2011.

As you may know already, the IS F sedan is powered by a spectacular 5.0-liter V8 engine capable to deliver 416 hp and to push the car to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds. The IS F convertible is expected to carry the same engine and to make the sprint to 100 km/h in less than, because it will be much lighter. And this is not all: the SC430 Coupe Cabriolet will also have a successor, a “clean sheet of paper” which will reveal new design lines and a soft top, in order to offer more style.

yeah when ever they knock the 3 series out the box.......hasnt been done at all and I think it never will happen. The 3 series is far more advanced than the IS coupe it may be more heavier but what german car manufacturer do you know that doesnt make a heavy car. German cars are literally built like tanks. I still think lexuas has a long way to go to even try to scare BMW out of buisness

The IS-F is a nice car but when you compare it to the M3 it doesnt match up. The interior dash layout is trash, exterior styling is "TOO FAST TOO FURIOUS", I have been in an IS-F besides the power it has I think thats all that car has going for itself if you compare it to the BMW M3 sedan.

Well, Well, Well, I see the IS-F coupe my just be a reality. But, if it is not, would the IS-F convert be a alternative, and will it outsell the M3 convert?

glad to know lexus is taking a stab at the market...no one will know the outcome on if they fail/succeed until they make the attempt. but if we can take persepctive from the IS-F sedan, it's been a success thus far. it may not be BMW material, but it's damn near close.

as far as the SC430 soft-top, i'm iffy on that choice. taking the route of the 5-series and the lack fo a hardtop. the sc430 should continue with a hardtop vert. a large convertible coupe can offer plenty of style with a hard-top, eg: MB SL-series. hopefully they'll reconsider...

i'm also hoping for the IS-F coupe and a GS-F. Lexus/Toyota has many options coming out...glad to see they're not taking the conservative route and playing it safe. only way to succeed is grind it out and please the consumers, offering excitement to each line of vehicle will surely do so

+1 spot on. Anyone who has actually driven an IS-F will attest to this.

I would like to see what motor they shoehorn into a GS-F, if they ever build it. Probably would have to be the LF-A V10?

well one thing we do know is that it wont be as good as the M3 convertible as the IS-F sedan isn't nearly as good as the M3 sedan or coupe

i'd have to disagree...the IS-F, is actually NEARLY AS GOOD as the M3. a couple steps off, but definitely close enough

Agent - I have driven the IS-F and it is nowhere near a BMW M3 sedan in regards to engine response, handling, driver feel especially on a race track. It is also a tad on the small side. The IS-F has a little too much body roll and tends to lift out of the corners when pushed to the limit, where as the M3 is very sure footed allowing you to carry much more speed thru corners. Hence, why the M3 has destroyed the IS-F on the track in every comaprison test.

I think the IS-F is a nice car and a good starting point, but please don't tell me that it is even close to comparing to the M3 sedan in drving dynamics or powertrain. Cause you and everyone else knows that there is no comparison.

In regards to the Conv. version, I am asking why? The new lexus conv is very tiny in the back seat.

If you have driven both extensively and are objective you will not agree. The F does not feel remotely close to the M.

Is it just me.. or is that a Toyota Aurion taillight scheme? The aurion as far as im aware is sold in Australia and is based on the Camry with a couple of changes.

While Lexus makes good cars they bore me to death. I would know because I have one sitting in my garage. It's very good but also very boring, perfect for the aging elder that needs something reliable. I would still recommend my other car the S550 to the elder because it's just a better drive. I feel more at east and calm in the S than the LS and it is not a biased comment. I've had these two for 2 years so it's based on my experience. The LS is definitely more affordable and bang for buck value but if you want a trusted name, trusted name and quality the S is surely to please. I hope they don't screw up the IS-F. It's a crucial car for Lexus in order to be taken somewhat serious in the sporting department. The SC430 turtle was a failure in all aspects. I liked the interior from photos but hated it in person. In no angle I found the SC appealing or prestigious. In my opinion the LS and GS(one of my favorites) are the best looking cars in the Lexus lineup. But before we start a flame war lets wait for it to come out and let the automotive media test and review the car and see how it does. Lets stay neutral. Who knows it may be almost as good as its closest competitor. It's their first high performance convertible so lets give them a break.

R15 . that is what you say when the side profile to the current Lexus LS was ripped off from BMW. Look at the side profile and the LS460 and tell me it doesnt look like a 2006 BMW 7-series. It is almost identical. so who are you crappin?

Ugly. Do not know which is worse. The "bubble" ass of the SC430 or the lines of the IS-F C. The trunk line, quad, stacked exhaust, and side profile have no harmony. Infiniti convertible looks good. MB SLK and BMW 335ic alot better.
