On 29th October Bugatti Veyron will make an attempt to break the speed record.

The last best-make stands with 241 mph and was set by a Swedish sports car Koenigsegg in the Italian Nardo.

"241 mph is not enough!", the Castrol company said, who will sponsor the event. Since 1914 more than 20 new speed record have been set, including the present absolute speed record for land vehicles of 1228 km/h, set up from the British Andy Green in the rocket vehicle Thrust SSC.

The supercar of the Volkswagen company is powered by a 8 liter 16-cylinders engine with an output of 1001 hp and during test the Veyron chacked the 248 mph-mark.
