Bugatti working on four-door model and 270mph super Veyron
Production of the Bugatti Veyron is coming to an end around 2012 and besides the recently released Grand Sport version, Bugatti is working on an ultra high-end model. While company officials are denying the rumor, AutoCar has learned that customers have already put down deposits on what is being called a more powerful ‘GT’ version.

Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, Bugatti’s engineering boss, says that it is possible to get more power and torque out of the current quad-turbocharged 16-cylinder engine. Rumor has it that the Veyron GT could produce up to 1200-hp with a top speed of 270mph.

What Bugatti is confirming is that it is working on a completely new model that will replace the Veyron when production ends. Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen, Bugatti’s boss, says that the company is not...

they might as well put a W18 in the car so it could go 300 mph.....lol.... I wouldnt mind having that as a collectors car being that production will stop in 2012.

I'd only buy one if it could do 300mph.

LOL 300mph...I feel like so many things could go wrong at that speed.

Showtime,
not really, the current car is already capable of going 255mph, so it's just another 45mph to 300mph. It's just be like a car with 100hp traveling 70mph and you want to go another 45mph faster to a top speed of 115mph. It's easy, cause all you have to do is increase the psi in the turbo or bump up the displacment a bit and it's a done deal.

Might not be as easy as you think to go 300 mph. Wind resistance grows exponentially as the mphs goes up.

Yea what DexDiamonds said...and I was more concerned with safety rather than things going wrong with the car internally.

You also cannot compare the difference between 70 and 100mph with 255 and 300mph. There are so many things that can go wrong at such higher speeds...just a slight change of wind direction can make your car either lift up and flip or simply loose control in so many other ways...the tires also have a much higher chance of blowing up...

and to reach 300mph I bet you need at least an additional 300hp from that car

^^^Just like 145 mph there seems to be a brick wall in terms of the aero, doing 200 has it's aero problems as well, so doing 300 might as well, not every thing is as easy as you say. Just because 255 is 45 mph from 300, does not mean the that the car will be stable that speed. Remember the Bug had to be redesigned in terms of aero just to go 255, just imagine what it might take to do 300 mph. And it's mas might adversely effect it at that high rate of speed.

Those guys at Bugatti are absolutely crazy. Thats why I love them and their magnificent machine. I do think they would have to redesign to front to minimize the surface area to get to that speed. From the current horsepower to that does not equal 270, unless it is really H.P. limited currently, which I doubt.
