Buick’s future lineup set to rival Acura and Volvo
Recent strong standings in a North American vehicle satisfaction survey and increasing popularity across China has led management at Buick to consider expanding its lineup. Buick has always remained a notch above its US-based rivals and now execs are thinking that it could over time rival the likes of Acura and Volvo. Read Article

Let me guess that's your list of 2nd and 3rd Teir brands. Buick will never see Acura "Advance"

News flash: Buick already does offer competitive cars to similarly-priced "entry-level luxury" cars. What everyone here seems to forget is that the buying public doesn't care what the 0-60 time is, or how fast a car can run a slalom, or how many G's or lateral acceleration can be achieved on the skidpad. Buick instead emphasizes comfort, spaciousness, and lifetime value over cutting-edge dynamic performance.

Of course, I would welcome the Riviera concept to come to life as more of a sports-tourer rather than a comfortable cruiser. But no objective auto expert can rightly claim that Buicks are anything but well-built, reliable, and very comfortable, at a very decent price. If GM would make a few updates (7-speed DSG transmissions and more aggressive optional sport suspension packages), then Buick would very likely increase its sales significantly.

I don't care what image a vehicle may have among the ignorant public. I buy a car to please me and my wife and not the hoi polloi. Right now the Buick Lucerne with the 300 h.p. DOHC Cadillac Northstar V-8 is just about the best value on the planet. Too bad my wife thinks it's too big. Perhaps one of the future slightly smaller Buicks will suit my wife better, especially if Buick introduces a small SUV similar to the 2008 Saturn VUE but without its rather serious shortcomings.
