Buicks in China, U.S. to Share Platforms by 2010
In the next two to three years, the majority of Buicks built in North America will share common platforms and designs with Buicks assembled in China, now the brand’s most popular market.
Americans soon will see the “relevance of China,” as product sharing between the two regions grows, Buick General Manager Steve Shannon says.
“There’s a little bit now, but you will see much more significant product sharing,” he tells reporters after a speech to the Automotive Press Assn. here. “We think we can develop products jointly that really do a great job in both markets.”
General Motors Corp. and its Chinese joint venture partner Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. share architectures for the outgoing Buick Terraza minivan, currently built in Doraville, GA, and the GL8, made in China.

This will be good. The Asian companies have been sharing platforms for decades between different markets. GM keeps looking better and better. Their interiors are VASTLY improved from what they were only a few years ago and the overall fit&finish, materials quality, etc is FAR superior to what it was just a few years ago.
RICEMASTER, I CARE. GM makes good products and does well, America does well. You probably don't understand this seeing as to how you are most likely 15 or 16 yrs old. Go watch the Fast and the Furious again. Loser. People who intentionally make themselves out to be "ricers" make awesome brands like Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, etc look bad.

Typical of a high-schooler, people calling them names gets them upset. Get some sleep little boy, I bet you have a REAL difficult algebra test on Monday morning.
Another reason how we all know you are a child, you write the word "you" with the single letter "U". I'm smarter than you....stop trying.

The general consensus has almost always been that all GM and Ford has to do to save themselves is ship their European and Australian platforms and designs westward. They are apparently listening. Good job GM.

RICEMASTER,
Are you serious? You state "If U was slightly smarter, U'd listen to everything I say and go bust on GM". Such a poor command of the English language. How sad.
Oh by the way, accusing me of being a domestic fanboy does not bother me the slightest. Also, there has ALWAYS been a Mercedes-Benz vehicle in my immediate family. The first car ride of my life was in a Mercedes-Benz (a few days after I was born).
Please, go back to class become educated about:
A) Economics (in general)
B) The complexities of the Automotive industry
C) The English language
Sincerely,
neutral

Wow, RICEMASTER, that's one of the most retarded things I've heard in a while. I guess all those Toyota recalls and the Americans same reliability scores as the Japanese mean nothing. Toyota and Honda as a company whole, from marketing to more efficient production to following market trends, have functioned better than GM and Ford in the past. And those Chinese must be REALLY dumb to build one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Have you even been to China? If you weren't so ignorant you would see Pontiac is one of the fastest growing car brands in America, Cadillac is becoming an excellent brand, GMC sales are up and the Impala is catching up to Camry sales despite shrinking it's fleet sales. Maybe when you're older you'll realize it isn't just "domestic fanboys" that send domestics into the red. It's a little more complicated than building cars, it's an American corporation, not Orange County Choppers. By the way, it's the Americans who kept your little rice car brands here, via GM and Chrysler.
