CAW president threatens to take down General Motors
Buzz Hargrove, president of the Canadian Auto Workers union, is talking tough to GM in hopes of getting a commitment to invest in their transmission plant in Windsor, ON. GM recently made a decision to build a new 6-speed automatic transmission in St. Catharines, ON, leaving the Windsor facility with no known future product plans. Read Article

unions are all over europe and no one is really getting killed
huge financial consortiums only care about making money and more of it, so they fuck up miserably, and fire employees, which is basically pushing the problems forward, and creating some more along the way (unemployment among other things)
let me remind you that in the US, without a job, you don't get health care, so let's ask a simple question: what is more important, a worker having a job and thus health care, or someone already capable of investing (a shareholder), making more profit? and don't go telling me the shareholder's contribution is greater so retribution should follow because that is economical nonsense...
besides, less employees means less tax income, so less infrastructure for all of you, and less funding for soldiers in Afghanistan and Irak, or more indebtement of the federal gov.
as for bringing down GM, well it's doing the job brilliantly on its own!!
