Cadillac CTS Coupe Confirmed For Production For May 2010

General Motors has been playing games with the two door CTS, first it was an auto show hit and then the program was put on hold, then it was back on and then finaly it was delayed once again.

Well play time is over, because it is now official, the Cadillac CTS Coupe will make it to production. The vehicle’s official debut will be made in February 2010 and production will begin shortly after in May.

The CTS Coupe will be available in both standard and CTS-V, high performance version. The new coupe will be the third edition of the CTS familiy when it joins the current sedan and wagon. The CTS Coupe will be powered by a gasoline direct injected V6 that will deliver 270 HP. The big boy CTS-V on the other hand, will be powered by a 556 HP 6.2 Liter supercharged V8, the same engine that is found in the sedan.

Yup :) just like how every audi car/sub looks the same and every porsche car/suv looks the same. I'm excited about the coupe cts-v, but if given the choice I'd want to put the cts-v engine into the xlr-v, 550hp and 550 ft-lbs in a luxury corvette would be sweet.

This model could be some serious competition for the 3 Series M. Particularly if Cadillac continues to refine the handling. It is definitely a gorgeous car. The concept shown in Detroit two years ago was stunning and has to be seen in person to fully appreciate.

Uhh, kuvakas1, the CTS-V is NOT a M3 competitor, it is a M6 competitor because the CTS-V sedan is a M5/E class/XF-R competitor...you should know this by now, as this is the 2nd gen CTS-V, and Caddy had stated that they targeted the M5...

The DI V6 in the CTS sedan is 304hp. Same in the Camaro. So why is the same engine only 270 hp in this coupe?

In the sedan, the non-DI V6 is 263 hp for Pete's sake. If they drop the hp by 34hp for the coupe, I think that might be a little disappointing. It doesn't make any sense.

That goofiness aside, it does look pretty cool. I just hope they don't screw it up by watering down the engine.

They are trying not to pump out too much horsepower for those who are in a mid-life crisis. But WHY? I thought the ones in crisis want POWER and lots of it.

TopSpeed.com can and does make mistakes. Heck, they're similar to this site in many respects, where people post articles and others comment thereafter. Like here, there are some morons floating around. A quick look at GM's engine lineup though, shows the 3.0 V6 weighing in at 270hp. So I would be willing to bet that this is the engine the writer is talking about. The Sedan isn't available with the 3.0, but the Wagon is and the Coupe will be, according to everything I have read.

Agreed, there are more than a few morons floating around and it can be difficult to take these people seriously. Especially when the self impressed types among them only use part of the available data and add a dose of assumption while making their point.

Yeah...I noticed that happens a lot around here. I enjoyed my first one or two experiences posting here. It was never the same once late June came and the 12-year olds who managed to avoid summer school started responding to me with nonsense. I think I once got deboosted for complementing the Audi A6.

Caddy has the best looking desigms, the most powerful sedan now we should focus on a truly exciting halo car and a convertable to round things out.

Good on fit and finish ,,,I still cant get into the front grill and headlights. Still reminds me of the caddy grills on suburbans. Other than that Its cool.

For a car based on the Chevy Volt, it is good looking. Actually very good looking. One of the better designs to come out Detroit in a long time. But no thanks!

Do some homework! According to GM's U.K. advanced design studio under the direction of Simon Cox, it is. "Unlike the Volt sedan, it sports a coupe body style with seats for four passengers in a 2+2 layout". (You are welcome!)

That is the Converj the coupe the Cox's should be referencing. The platform that is unique to the CTS Coupe, also is used for the CTS and CTS-V and Wagon models is derived from modified Espilon platform. The Chevy Volt, Cruze,Chevy Orlando, Opel Ampera, Astra and Cadillac Converj are based on Global Delta platforms. You can tell by the size of the wheel base.
