Cadillac Offers A Sneak Peak At The 2010 SRX
Today Cadillac provided a special sneak preview of the next-generation SRX Crossover, a 2010 model that will launch worldwide in mid-2009.The all-new SRX is intended to bring a more dynamic alternative to the heart of the luxury crossover segment, featuring a fresh iteration of Cadillac's signature design language.

"The next-generation SRX is the result of the continued exploration and refining of Cadillac design language, with the goal of creating dramatic presence in the luxury crossover space," says Clay Dean, Cadillac design director.

The all-new SRX debuts at major global auto shows later this year, at which time complete details will be released. The 2010 model will replace the current SRX Crossover, which launched in 2004 as a key component of Cadillac's ongoing product renaissance and global expansion. This next-generation crossover is similar in styling and proportion to Cadillac's Provoq Concept that appeared in many auto shows during 2008.

The all-new production model is being developed to achieve excellent driving dynamics and wet-weather traction, with an elegantly modern cabin designed to accommodate five passengers and ample cargo.

"The next-generation SRX, along with the new CTS Sport Wagon, showcases Cadillac taking its dramatic design into new directions, particularly cars and crossovers that are the right size at the right time for today's luxury consumers," said Jim Taylor, Cadillac general manager.

Is it just me or does the side profile of the 2010 Cadillac SRX look like a Front Wheel drive Platform???

Maybe because it is a FWD based platform???

If that's FWD, it ain't a Cadillac any more. In any event, I don't like the way that roof tapers down at the back with attendant loss of interior cargo space.

EnnNorak,

You do realize that until the Catera all of Caddy's cars were FWD for about 15 years right?

the taper of the roof actually isn't that dramatic. If you look closely, you'll see that the lines of the windows and d-pillar create the visual illusion.

That said, this actually looks a lot better than those photos of the new Lexus RX we saw a few days ago. Could steal some sales.

I don't know what to say.
It doesn't look good but it doesn't look bad either.

I see alot of Saturn Vue & Pontiac Vibe in the body and I think Cadillac kept the Escalade front end for the soon to be buyers trading down from Escalade to this.Cadillac somehow needs to bring an FX competitor and a 4 door coupe sedan that look totally different from each other (like the FX & EX) not every car and suv should have an Escalade front end. That wagon is pretty nice though!!

I like the looks of this car. It reminds me a bit of the upcoming Audi Q5. And the grille looks an awful lot like the new CTS.

I think the fact that its rather short and stubby compared to the current one makes difference. They must have decided that they didnt need a seven passenger vehicle. One alternative is that they could offer two models of this car. An XL version would fit the bill.

This isn't a rebadged Vue. The two are on completely different chassis. The Vue is on Theta, the SRX will share its TE chassis w/ ONLY the SAAB 9-4x. The two share no more parts than the Accord and Pilot do, would you call those rebadges?

First impression is its a more upscale Saturn Vue. Not a bad place to start but the Vue is very overweight so hopefully they managed to solve that problem.

the Vue though gets rated very highly, has a high quality interior and other than its weight problem(I can think of another car in this class that will have that issue) its dynamics are good.......

From the profile, it looks like the front wheels really need to be moved forward a bit.

GM revived the Aztek. I'd say it looks like an RX but they sort of lifted the back end off of Pontiac.

The SRX looks like its lost a lot of weight compared to the current one.
