Cadillac cancels brand expansion to Australia

Just when Aussies thought they would get a chance at driving some serious American luxury word has come out that Cadillac would not be expanding to Australia.



Originally the brand was planning on making an expansion to the land down under but managing director and chairman Mark Reuss made an annoucement to Caradvice.com.au that they would have to delay the expansion indefinitely.

I believe that they left the country somewhere in the '50s.

Anywho, they have the holden brand, where the commodore is the best-selling sedan for 3 yrs, and using itsplatform, it is available in a more luxurious version called the caprice, statesman, and calais, all which look very nice and powered with a 6L V8.

For what it's worth, I think Cadillac would've had a chance in Australia, but only if they cut out the higher spec Commodores, and to cut that volume out of the Commodore line (especially now) wouldn't have made any sense.... as for Japanese luxury badges outside of the US, Chuck, you are correct. Just had to get a little rub on Infiniti in there on ya! Although Lexus has had a fair degree of success outside of the USA too.
