Cadillac rear-drive hybrids in the works

According to Tom Stephens, GM’s vice chairman of global product operations the Two Mode hybrid powertrain developed by the American manufacturer and used only on trucks, will soon migrate to rear-drive cars in the next-generation and the best candidate will be Cadillac.



GM is already developing an engine that is 25 percent smaller and 20 percent more powerful than the motor used in today’s Two Mode hybrid full-sized trucks. “The new motor will be lighter. It will be more affordable,” said Stephens.

or what would make better sense is that its a typo of sorts, and they mean an electric motor that is 25% smaller and 20% more powerful as that seems to make more sense of course GM has smaller engines than the "5.3" used in the Hybrid SUVS, and Trucks.

GM's current 2 mode system uses a 6.0 right? 6.0*.2=1.2 and 6.0-1.2=4.8 Guess what size GM's smallest V8 is right now: 4.8 L. Seems like they will just put the VVT, AFM, and other tech on their smaller V8 and use that. Not really a big deal, IMO.
