Camaro to get supercharged V8 with 500 horsepower
GM is counting on V6 equipped Camaros to account for the bulk of its sales but there’s talk of a turbocharged four-cylinder engine among the ranks as well the usual V8 lineup.

Latest reports suggest that the flagship Camaro SS will be powered by GM’s 6.2L LS8 small block V8 with a supercharger in tow.

The LS8 engine features an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold and has been designed to fit in the new Zeta platform that underpins cars like the upcoming Camaro as well as the current Pontiac G8.

Does it have to be GT-R on every thread? GODZILLA has nothing on this Camaro. It's American and it's a muscle car. This design resembles some of the old 'maro's out there. What does the GT-R resemble? a typical rice rocket? Quit bringing up GT-R. This has nothing to do with Nissan. Wrong car, wrong thread, wrong time, different market.

the LS7 (you mentioned) is expensive to make and is more sensible in the corvette.

and a supercharged V8 isnt expensive to make?? lets keep in mind this is the same engine in a 100 grand vette and a 60grand or more cadillac. It would help also with the fact the only production car using that engine is the Z06 and with its relatively minimal investment over the base the vette....it seems from a cost stand point it would still be the better choice....that and GM seems to have trouble with supercharged engines....reliability they do better with normally aspirated and turbos

tell that to GM. their LS engines are some of the best V8s around though.

I think I'm getting sick of hearing about the Camaro, not because I don't like it(I like it a lot), but that it won't even be available for sale until Spring 2009 at the earliest.

This really does need to come out sometime in the near future. GM has done a piss poor job of dangeling this in our face and letting a lot of the hoopla blow over. RELEASE IT ALREADY!!!
