Well, numbers don't lie.
Although people may have dismissed the Porsche Panamera for its hind quarters, it seems to be getting a lot of attention. And it's not just attention, it's driving HUGE sales for Porsche. But that's not the best part, looking at data recently collected by Polk, it is pretty clear how much of an impact the Panamera has had on the large premium sedan market.
Because of the Panamera, there is a large slice of the pie missing!
Compared to five years ago, the Maserati Quattroporte, Lexus LS, BMW 7-Series and Audi A8 are all seeing declines in market share. According to the stats, the Panamera is behind the 1) Mercedes-Benz S-Class 2) BMW 7-Series 3) Lexus LS. Considering it's so new, that's impressive. Clearly the vehicles suffering the most bleeding are the Lexus LS and Mercedes S-Class.
Another car making an impressive jump is the all-new Jaguar XJ. If you look to the stats from years back, it has more than doubled its market share in a short period of time.
Here's the kicker though. When I drove the six-cylinder Panamera I proclaimed it was my favorite one. Well, I guess others saw how impressive the standard Panamera was because it is commanding a staggering 46 percent of the six-cylinder, large premium sedan segment.
