Can you guess the highest rated and most popular cars by Cnet?
You don't normally think of the typical Cnet reader as a car person so it intrigued me to see their highest rated and most popular list to see how different that market sees cars and brands.
I knew they would like Lexus because of the tech inside the car but a Shelby and NO BMW 3-Series or Infinti G35?
Why do you think these brands and models appeal so much to this demographic?

CNET said about the S63 the gas milage is not too good!
:-O
People that buy the S63 don't give a hoot in hell about the price of petrol.

And CNET touts the Lexus self-parking like it's worth a damn.
People that drive Audi's can park'em at 70 MPH.

The LS460L is the only car on CNET to ever get a perfect 10! I think it's the only PRODUCT to ever get that as well. The S-Class got a 9.7 though, so props to that.

If MB would have only put a parking system in the S-Klasse for the parking challenged.

Most people still regard the S as better.

S-classes get a "Not Recommended" by CR, which contrary to most opinions, actually TESTS cars COMPREHENSIVELY, on their own test tracks with auto engineers on their staff.
better known are the RELIABILITY ratings they garner from actual OWNERS, with the largest data base of any reliability survey. from these, S-classes are on the list of "Worst buys" in used cars.

tech products are one thing. and the toys ARE nice while they work.
the electronic toys on many euro cars however, have an unfortunate tendency to go KAPUT after too brief a time period. woe to anyone who still hangs on a an "uber car" once the warranty expires.

in sharp contrast, everyone KNOWS japanese electrical and electronic devices are among the MOST reliable. so it just naturally follows that among modern cars with heavy reliance on electronic basics and goodies, the japanese brands RULE when it comes to reliability.
friend of mine bought a power window motor for her '93 toyota 4runner with 240,000 miles on it. turned out the original HAD NOT burned out. window was inoperable only due to a bad ground that developed in the wiring.
so she returned the motor to the toy dealer. who likely was disappointed that they STILL sell hardly any! (it had to be ordered from the distributor)

Acura doesn't really make luxury cars on the level of Lexus, with the exception of the RL.

CNN actually apologized for having listed the Prius best in THREE CATEGORIES.
but also said, they were ONLY REPORTING the facts, ma'm. as unveiled in the research and survey.

Prius is great on gas. Shaky at high speeds and feels like its built with aluminum foil.
Or maybe those are just the ones Toyota sells to Hertz! Are those included in the overall sales #'s?

Rosko WTF are talking. Lexus LS460/600h is the ultimate luxury car. Fact. Just tell me another car which can rival it in luxury, features, most number of all new technology...etc
And don't tell me the S Class with Automan seats i mean Maybach. that's 10x the price. or Rolls Royce.
Lexus even rules here in Middle East especially UAE. Well just started. Lexus LS460L is the hottest favourite. I am sure it's selling as much as the S Class. and don't tell me it's cheap and all that. Money is no object for Arabs.
Even the IS and GS are selling very well. And i see RX and ES after weeks (opposite to US i guess).
and even Lexus has started doing very well in other Asian countries like China...etc
