Now that Congress and even President-elect Barack Obama have voiced their opinions on Detroit’s Big 3 executives the question on everyone’s mind is: Who will replace GM’s Rick Wagoner? While GM COO Fritz Henderson may seem like a logical choice, his chances are slim since his supporters may be washed out along with Wagoner.

Either way names are flying around in Detroit on who the next GM CEO could be.

Doesn't Ghosn still run Nissan, could one man run Two giant companies and stay succesful? or would Ghosn see running Detroit be like picking a horse with a sprain foot to win the race

what trade secrets could he possibly get from GM.
How to build an inferior car, with way more depreciation,
how to build a bloated dealer network,
how to let your union make your company unprofitable,
how to run the largest corporation in the world into bankruptcy.
I am sure the trade secrets aren't worth much or they would have been using them already.

What?! Ghosn took a company that would be dead today without his intervention and made it not survive but also be profitable. What more proof of the man's capability do you need?

GM needs emergency surgery in order to live and no one in Detroit is ready to submit to the scalpel. Ghosn isn't afraid to start trimming and do whatever it takes to make GM a leaner, more efficient machine.

What does Bill Gates know about running a car company?

I would have to say Steve Jobs(from Apple) as the "CEO", time of integrate his level of technological innovations with mechanical, and Carlos Ghosn would be his partner in crime as the "COO"...

Ghosn would be the most capable, especially considering he was able to turn Nissan around. That being said, he's not a machine and he already has his hands full with Nissan and Renault.

Neutron Jack is the right profile, but he's too comfortable in retirement. Ghosn has enought CEO titles. Romney is the one to act with great speed, make the decisions and reinvigorate GM.

You know if gm would bring back the older style car's from the 60's n 70's. like ford crysler and gm'c camaro and make it price to sell. they could get out of the rutt their in. but really paying all that money for a new car tht is made of plastic is insain. and stop having our part's made overseas. that in its self is insain. i could care less who run's the company as long as their honest and keep it here in the usa. even our usa flag is made in china... now that's sick!!

I say let KKR (Kohlberg, Krivis, Roberts) take them over, turn them around to profitability, and then sell them to the highest bidder. In all honesty though, the next heads of GM don't need to have car-industry experience. They need to be turn-around kinda guys. The Big 3 are in crisis mode now, and GM in particular (I don't even care about Chrysler anymore - it's a dying breed.) needs a non-political head (i.e. stop babysitting the union - they've gotten what they wanted if they cried loud enough) that knows how to cut the fat, produce a product that people will want to buy, and keep the company operating lean. This is Business 101.
