Irony at its best.

Completely agree with this article. Driving a Prius is one thing, but I've always figured celebrities who drive them to be nothing more than image-conscious media whores. Drive a Prius, and you'll get publicity...

Exactly what I've said, but WIll fights me off.

Weird.

He can at least admit to the truth.

Come on Will, I think you know what 530i meant.

Most celebrities are shallow and care about their image. By driving a Prius, they feel that they can get support (and publicity) from the masses for being environmentally conscious.

Celebrities who drive other luxury cars also make a statement: I'm rich. Most of these luxury cars do get poor fuel economy, correct, but the issue at hand is the Prius.

They drive the efficient Prius as a means of saying "I care about the environment", but then they contradict this statement with a thirsty private jet, other less fuel efficient cars etc.

In the end, it's not the Prius fault, but the celebrities who drive them. In a way, they're giving the Prius a bad name.

Will, Willis pretty much said it. That's what I meant.

Notice, I never flamed the Prius in my post. I flamed the people -> celebrities <- driving them...

Very nice comment by Willis.

He's one of the lucky few still sane on this website.

Just give it some time...

No Will, you aren't getting it. The article said that the hypocratical celebs fly so much and on private jets (using much more fuel than a regular passanger in a air line plane) that they would have to drive their photo-op Priuses to the moon to compinsate for ONE extravagant private jet flight. I don't care that they do waste fuel with private jets (I would do the same) but I hate hypocracy with a passion, and their supposed "green" image with the photo-op Prius is idiotic. BTW, most politicians do the same. Drive up for a photo-up in a Prius (with its elevated "Greenes") but acutally they arrived in an SUV that gets like 10 MPG. [the same politicians haven't figured out that the SUVs don't pay a gas guzzler tax that they deserve]

Could be worse, they all could be driving V8/V10 Escalades, Benz and BMW's instead.
