Chevrolet Blue Devil Corvette in 2009 – C7 in 2012
The infamous “Blue Devil” Corvette, the one that is supposed to pack 650 hp, will be on the market as a 2009 model. It will have styling differentiation from other Corvettes and will sell for $100,000.
In other words, GM is doing the ZR-1 over again. For those smart enough to give the C6 on steroids a pass, there remains hope.
The next real Corvette, the C7, is supposed to debut in 2012, as a 2013 model. According to Automotive News, as related from Rick Conti Corvette, there are currently three designs in the running for the next generation Vette, but the final product will retain the front-engine layout.

true, that someone who doesn't care about badging might like this car, but also, they could use the $100K and get a another car and mod the hell out of it and probably outperform the vette too.

im sure it won't be the same kind of idiot that spends 100,000 dollars on a toyota ls600. at least the corvette name speaks to the masses.

This just goes to show the expense in engineering a car to this level of performance. The only other cars with this kind of power will cost at least double if not triple the price.
It should earn GM some street cred though just for building it.
It will be a bargain at that price people! Will your typical Armani clad type "A" person buy it? Hell no. It's not meannt for them.
But all the "wanna bes" and well to do (by Vette standards) Vette loyalists will have to have it.

Thats not to mention that a Ferrari, Lambo, and other expensive cars would cost you an arm and a leg for routine service.
After a 6+ routine services you would realized you could have bought a base Corvette with that money.

By 2009, hopefully this vette will be able to keep up with the current Ford GT, Shelby GR500 KR, Viper GT-R, Audi R8, M3 CLS, Ferrari F430 Scuderia, and Porsche GT2 which all cost the same or less than the Blue Devil.

Why wouldn't it? The current Z06 did Car & Driver's lightning lap around Virginia International raceway in less than 3 minutes. It's the quickest time for any car they've ever tested, including the Ford GT, the current (997) Porsche 911 Turbo, and the 911 GT3 on racing slicks. Pretty impressive. If the current Z06 already outperforms these cars, then expect the Blue Devil to outright embarrass them.

none of the cars you just mentioned except im assuming the m3 cls cost less 100,000. second the cars mentioned for the most part the 67,000 Z06 can run with on power and performance, a 150 more horses, and a higher level performance would be corvette into supercar territory im sure.

In 1990, plenty of people paid $65K for the ZR-1. And that was when the C4 cost about $34K.
Do the math. They will sell every one at $100K
STJ88 is most likely someone who has never been near a C6 because it is made in the USA and someone told him it had pushrods and leafsprings. Newsflash...the current Z06 is probably the best track ready car you can buy at any price. It lapped the ring in 7:43.
Do yourself a favor and take one for a spin. Then come back and try posting something that makes sense.

@lewishamiltonpimp -
7:43 aint all that good, the 1999 skyline gtr m-spec NUR did it in 7:53. And that with only 353BHP, so i wonder what the 450BHP 2008 GTR will be able to do.
The GTR has ATESSA-ETS 4WD en HICAS 4WS and the Corvette has pushrods and leafsprings. So comparing those two is stupid, the GTR is one of the most technologically advanced cars in the world and the Corvette is as advanced as a brick.

What's your point? The most expensive Bentley models (Arnage & Brooklands coupe) use pushrods. These are ultra exclusive European models for the inanely rich. If it's good enough for Bentley, it's fine for the Corvette. Pushrod engines are physically smaller than overhead cam engines of the same displacement. So Chevy's 7.0 liter V8 is physically about the same size as Mercedes-Benz's 6.2 liter V8. The fact is that this 'primitive' engine lays down 505 horses, 470 lb. ft. of torque, and gets gas mileage that is far superior to both the AMG 6.2 V8 and the BMW M 5.0 V10.

I wonder if pushrod 27 has ever seen bent GM puchrods and the valves they have been operating. I'm sure that rarely happens on a Corvette today but, generally speaking, overhead cams allow for reliable operation up to much higher RPMs. DOHC engines can produce more power than pushrod engines of the same displacement because the valve train can be operated at much higher RPM.
Drivers of cars like the Bentley Arnage and Brooklands coupe are far less agressive than Corvette drivers who need a high-revving DOHC engine.
As for the suspension, Corvette's are great for straight-line acceleration as in street dragging but a more sophisticated suspension is required for the type of driving done by owners of the more expensive European sports cars.
Having said that, I must admit however that I would personally chose the Corvette (if I could fit in it comfortably) becasue it offers better value and its body will not rust out in the long term like steel cars do.

Where to start...
-If you're going to say "...7:43 ain't all that good, X did it in x:xx..." then shouldn't the x:xx be a lower number than 7:43?
-Saying the Skyline, as good as it may be, is one of the most advanced cars in the world and then comparing the Vette to a brick, which spanked the Skyline by all of 10 seconds (an eternity in racing) doesn't really help with your argument does it? I guess one could say you're insulting the Skyline...
-Words cannot explain magnitude of ignorance of you saying "7:43 ain't all that good" as anyone with the slightest bit of knowledge of the Ring knows that any sub 8 minute time is an incredible feat.
-Regardless of what technology is used, in the end, the Vette won the race in spades and did it with the least amount of money. I guess you forgot how much the Z-Tune Skyline cost...

Hopefully at least $5000 of the additional cost is going towards interior upgrades.

The '08 has a much improved interior with a lot of stitched leather on the dash. I'm still not a huge fan of the interior but at $50k you are really paying for the performance.
One would hope that at $100K the interior would be improved even more.

lenkun - have you actually priced a 430 lately? If you can get one for $100K, I'll give you $130K for it right now. An aquaintance of mine has been on the waiting list for nearly 2 years and is paying MSRP.
STJ, I never mentioned the GTR. You did. And 10 seconds is 10 seconds lol. On the ring, across the finish line, 10 seconds is about 900 feet. How many car lengths is that lol.
And without looking it up I bet you have no knowledge of how 'leafsprings' are even used on Corvettes.
See if you Dad will drive you to the local Chevy dealership and try out an 08 C6 base model. Then report back with more of your wisdom.

You know what I think? GM could buy Lexus' and BMW's, change nothing, and rebadge them as Chevys. You people would look at the same cars you praise now, and then deride them for inferior technology and cheap interiors. There is just nothing that GM can do to please you. Maybe it's their own fault. But the fact is that if you do not acknowledge the current Corvette series as one of the greatest sports cars in the world, then you are a fool.

Absolutley. Most of these fanboys have never been near a C6. Probably because they're still in grade school. They think it beneath them to even consider it as a great car because someone told them that their grandpop's 1968 F150 had pushrods. And again, most of them hear 'leafsprings' and think live axle pick up truck lol.
I have a 335i which is my 3rd BMW and 6th or 7th German vehicle. I am seriously considering a 2008 LS3 C6. The interiors are catching up and the '07 is a rocket ship. And that isn't the LS3.
Having said that, nearly everything else made here by the big three really is rubbish. Yes there are exceptions including my Suburban of course.

GM is my favorite North American manufacturer but suffers from occasional bad judgment even today. Yesterday, my wife and I looked at the 2008 Saturn VUE which arrived the other day at our local dealer. We were thoroughly disappointed. The seat cushions are far too short and the interior plastic is mediocre. The engine air vents on the side look fake whether they are real or not. Lack of proper seat height adjustment is a deal-breaker for many people. Too bad my wife finds the Outlook too big as the Outlook is fabulous except for the fact that, again, the front passenger gets an inferior seat.
What really gets me mad is that GM is giving the Chinese better Buicks instead of making them available to the loyal customers who made GM what it is. GM should seriously consider opening a Saturn satellite division in Siberia so that the entire product planning organization responsible for the 1008 VUE would have an opportunity to transfer there.
The only GM vehicle left on my shopping list is the 2008 Cadillac CTS and if I am disappointed again, that will be the last straw.

No true performance? At least say something smart, like 'it lacks refinement' or 'i don't like the styling.' The base C6 will embarrass any Boxster, Cayman, or 911 Carerra model. The Z06 outruns and outhandles both the GT3 and the 997 turbo. M3, M5, M6, R8, RS4, Ford GT, F430, Gallardo... none of these cars can keep up with a Z06. If the Vette doesnt have true performance, than nothing does. Idiot.

Rick Wagoner coughed up a deal with Duke University to use the mascot as a model name (he's on the board of trustees @ Duke). Not sure how I feel about all that. Next, expect Coach K Suburban ;)
I think it will be a sweet car, but why six figures? Make it $80,000 and GM will not be able to keep up with demand.
