Chevy ZR1 will be fastest production car at Nurburgring
The chief engineer for the Corvette ZR1, Tadge Juechter, has spilled all manner of details about the upcoming supercar in the past month, with everything from Nurburgring lap times to possible fuel economy figures getting a mention.

Juechter has boasted in the past that the ZR1 “will be able to take the production-car track record at any racetrack,” including beating Nissan’s official 7m 29s Nurburgring lap time posted by the GT-R last month.

Although people may tend to stay away from American car, I do find Corvette very attractive.

Big horsepower, light weight, RWD. It has FUN written at the face.

However, leave the fastest production car to NISSAN. Corvette needs better suspension tuning, not just horsepower.

The ZR1 has the same magnetic suspension as the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. You don't know what you're talking about do you

AUDI has the same magnetic suspension. Does that make AUDI as fast as Ferrari or be the fastest at Nur?

I knew someone would bring up the V-Spec. It's a valid point, but let's not pretend that the V-Spec will not be just as extreme, if not more so, than the ZR-1. And the V-Spec will probably cost just as much.

What cannot be denied is that the two cars are not after the same sort of driver.

I dont think the Yank Vette will be able to beat the Jap engineered GT-R.... The GT-R just got 7mins 29 seconds with AWD turbo six, fully race ready and reliable.... I think I read in this article that the GT-R even got 7mins 38seconds.... http://www.pressportal.com.au/news/238/ARTICLE/2018/2008-05-02.html

Jap-engineered?

Hmmm The GT-R's dynamics team has a lot of European-based engineers in it.

Lets see the engineer at GM in charge of the project who personally knows what the ZR1 will be able to on the track. He knows the GT-R pulled a 7:29. And he is stating that the ZR1 will be the time.

Hmmm, why would he lie about the time the car will run?

I say we should have an official time very soon.

^^your talking about the same car that has won it's class at Le Man's multiple times, including against the Aston Martin DBR, and the Ferrari 550, both by Prodrive. The GTR has yet to prove itself at Le Man's except for a decent finish in 1995. Mazda is the only Japanese company that has raced and won not only their class but overall.

There's a huge difference between talking about beating the track record and actually doing it.

Walk the talk, or shut-up and just do it.

You got to admit. It certainly has the makeup to do it, 630+ hp, 3400 lbs., carbon ceramic brakes, gigantic tire contact patch. I'm very interested to see the official time, but I'm sure GM already knows based on preliminary testing.
