Chevy reviving the ‘Nomad’ name for new crossover

The Chevrolet Nomad was a station wagon produced by the Chevrolet from 1955 to 1961.

It was best known as the cool two-door station wagon associated with the “surf culture.” Well now insiders are telling Inside Line, that Chevrolet is planning to revive the ‘Nomad’ name for its new 7-passenger crossover.

The new Chevrolet crossover will be a sibling to the GMC Acadia and will replace the Chevrolet Uplander. Insiders close to the company are saying the Chevrolet believes that reviving an old best-selling name for a new modern vehicle, will win them consumers.

they'll also need FRESH styling too. which few if ANY suvs have managed, without looking simply ODD.

I really like the new SUV's from GM. Especially this line (Saturn Outlook, Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia).

Oh, great! Now almost all of GM divisions have a Lambda crossover. Having 4 will make further differentation hard in the future. Hopefully, the (planned) Nomad will have a different roofline than the others.

I actually thought GM would leave a division out (excluding Cadillac, Saab, Hummer) for this platform. But makes me wonder what's planned for the next SRX? And will Saab get another SUV...possibly based on the next SRX?

word is that the SRX is going to be axed after this generation. Its sad because it really is a great competitor, it just never took off sales wise. It was priced too close to the Escalade.

The SRX is being canned. NO!!!!!!!!!!
Is the same platform as the Buick Enclave? Hopefully it will look as good.
