Chinese Maker Brilliance Scores Poorly in German Crash Test

Germany’s ADAC automotive regulatory body has given China’s Brilliance BS6 sedan a poor one-star rating in its latest round of crash tests.

This is the car that Brilliance was hoping would convince European buyers that the Chinese brand was capable of building a truly world class car, but these latest results are very unnerving.

After conducting both head-on and side impact tests, with the vehicle traveling at 64km/h, the ADAC revealed that the BS6’s safety cell was too soft and that the A-pillar pushed too far into the cabin.

So taking ANY car and running it in to a barrier to see if the passengers survive is bias?

I guess those German concrete barriers are soo much hard than the Chinese ones.

Agent009 I hope you're reading what Toyotaman is saying.
Ban him, what he is saying is rude, offensive and actually illegal in most countries. "The Germans are known to be racist".
That's a defamatory remark, and the German people could sue for libel.
"English (and EU) law allows actions for libel to be brought in the High Court for any published statements which are alleged to defame a named or identifiable individual or individuals in a manner which causes them loss in their trade or profession, or causes a reasonable person to think worse of him, her or them."

Oh come on now. Sure Toyota man is completely full of it and I suspect he may be a lunatic, but I will defend his right to say as he pleases. Furthermore, the "Germans are racist" comment has been on this site multiple times before and it isn't libel, hateful perhaps, but not libel. Libel applies to individuals or multiple numbers of definite persons [not 'clouds' of people like groups- definite numbers] who have experienced tangible loses as a result of defamation. Such things , in particular the tangible losses part, are, at least in the United States almost impossible to prove.

Let's not forget as well that Hitler was elected and Mein Kampf was a very popular book in Germany. Mein Kampf if very explicit about Judaism; Hitler call the Jews parasites and compares them to a blood sucking fly on the Horse of Aryanism and they they should be gotten rid of. The wording is such that his hate really does come across. Some people will try to be evasive about it and tell you that despite that the book wasn't read, but it doesn't matter. Hitler was not ambiguous about what he felt about the Jews. It fact that many many Germans did not like the Jews. Call it racism or anti-semitism or whatever.

Now, that is not to say that the Germans wanted to murder people, or knew what Hitler was going to do. In addition, there was more going on in that period for Germany. Their massive depression and immense inflation an defaulted restitution payments and all of that really made for a very volatile situation. One that probably would have been averted had the Europeans actually listened to Woodrow Wilson with respect to punishing Germany and their restitution payments after WW1.

To use the present tense is going a bit far strictly speaking. However, I would not care if the above was shoved into the face of the Germans for the next 1000 years. Now, let me explain that a little. I do not believe in punishing the son for the father's sins. However, that mockery serves the purpose of helping prevent such a horrendous thing from ever happening again.

Before you accuse me of being anti-German I will say that I am not. Sure I don't like most German cars because I generally don't like their aesthetic, but I have taken 3 years of German study [language and history] and have been there.

Don't become emotional dear. I most certinaly am not defending what he has said, it is inaccurate. Nothign you have said is news to me. The Jews were an easy scapegoat simple because they were so involved in banking, and those who are outwardly wealthy are easy for most people to dislike. Horrible as it sounds.

I am veyr aware that the Germans are ashamed of what happened. A few years ago in my EU class we were required to read a rather lengthy paper that proposed that the manner in which Germany relates to the European Union as a whole and their willingness to take on much of the monetary responsibilties is the direct result of their desire to "make up" in way or atone for World War II.

No I am not forgetting that they were unaware of what was going on. I think I addressed this in my post. The point is that if you allow hate to motivate you in any manner and you surround yourself with like people, it should not surprise you that someone is going to take that extra step motivated by what they feel is the group.

I am not so sure about what it was durign WWII, but there were a lot a bad people in the world. Hitler. Stalin who was actually scarier in my opinion - he erased people. FDR- yes you heard me right he was a bad man not so overtly as the others however. Churchhill was pretty much the only good prominent Westerner at the time.

FDR knew about what was happening in Germany, he KNEW about the concentration camps and the murders- he still deported Jews back to Germany- knowing they were sent to the camps pretty much the second they arrived on German soil.

Incidentally, I think that this form of group mandate is of the largest problems with my generation. The advant of Urbanite societies has led to people polarizing their circle of friends. I.E. they are friends with those that are very much like themselves. What happens is the modes of behavior for the group become viewed as acceptable through group empowerment- and they may not be.

I really don't agree. You know one of the primary thesis upon which much of IPE is built is that states act rationally. Whether they actually do that is another thing altogether. You could argue that WWII was started by nothing more than Germany's need to pull themselves to of their depression. The persecution of Jews is ancillary to the war. Nothing gives an economy a kick in the pants better than a war. Japan had natural resource needs as a island.

Catherine the Great conquered the Crimea, not because she hated the Turks, but because he who controls the Crimea controls all trade from Russia in the northern Black Sea. She needed the Crimea to effectively utilize the Black sea for trade. She alo didn't hate her cousin Gustavus the III of Sweden over territorial claims.

Many wars are borne of what is perceived as necessity.

You know I spoke hastily here, and I knew it then that this wasn't really what I meant. Hence, the sentences that follow it.

I don't really mean to shove it in the face of the Germans. And truly, as I stated originally, I do not believe in punishing the son for the father's sins. What I mean is to show it to the world as something which should never be forgotten- that however, is effectively shoving it in Germany's face- it is their history. Germans now are not responsible for what happened. I am not some idiotic liberal [bastardized American sense] who thinks that thinks those who have done nothing are accountable. I don't belive in that and I do believe that it is wrong- original sin is disgusting to me.
