Chinese Nanjing Announces Plans To Revive Austin Healey & Healey Brands

In a surprise move, Nanjing Auto announced that it has reached an agreement with Healey Automobile Consultants Ltd and HFI Automotive Ltd to join forces for the future development of the Healey and Austin-Healey brands and sports cars bearing their name.

The Chinese car manufacture, which acquired the assets of MG Rover in July 2005, said in a statement that the deal with the Anglo-American consortium would put an end to long-standing issues about ownership of the brands and trade marks and expand opportunities for joint trade between the companies.

Last year, HFI had announced its plans to present a high performance sportscar with the DNA of a Healey 3000 - in convertible and coupe derivatives, as well as a modern affordable replacement for the Healey Sprite.

bimmermike, you do make a pretty good point. Do realize however, if you are from Europe..they see America as we are also no dang good bastards. For the starters..My beloved homestate of Texas has good ole' sparky still lighting away inmates regularly. Last count was already on or about 15 Well done bar-b-cued inmates. And that my friend is seen as evil and unfathomable to some European folks. I understand your fraustrations. Chinese used to build things for you but now many are beginning to build stuff for the Chinese. Anyhow, I enjoyed reading your comments! Cheers.

Well-I tend to agree although the company that makes Roewe(Bought the machine stampings for Rover)seems to have produced a quality car. I think in general the Chinese have a large production learning curve when it comes to auto quality standards. What might work for textiles etc. is not acceptable for cars. It will be interesting to see how they improve. That said I will not buy a car from a Communist country. Unfortunately a lot of goods we buy are probably made in China but we are not aware of it.

Perhaps I won't buy goods from a country that supports torture and kidnapping and doesn't support human rights.

No US made stuff for me then.

No you just kidnap innocent Americans and Europeans without a reason, take them to Morocco and Kabul, torture them and then drop them off in the middle of Albania.
And then you keep people without trial, lawyers or contact with the outside world in open cages.
Some of those people may be guilty, but often they are brainwashed young men, and they still deserve human rights, as do the innocent ones.
And torture is NEVER a necessity of war, it is illegal and against the rules of war, no matter who you are fighting.
The US is obviously not on the same scale as those other countries, but why does the government get away with it? It should not be allowed to do these things, they are wrong.

and they'll be available at your local Walmart with a fixed price tag. Don't even need to bargain with a dealer, just show your credit card to the cashier on your way out, sign a few lease/finance documents, she'll give you the keys, and you're on your way home with your brand new "Made in China" fun ride (reliability sold separately).

But seriously, wouldn't this be a great way to buy a vehicle instead of being ripped off by car dealers?
