Chrysler Splits Into Truck and Car Divisions Which Will Survive The Longest?

Chrysler was turning a very good profit untill Diamler came along. Chrysler had 13 billion dollars in reserves for development and future products when the merger happened. They had some very cool stuff coming untill Diamler axed it all.

Informing on the new Chrysler devision then saying which will last the longest, what is up with this question, it doesn't make much sense to me. How about giving details and leave the future to the professionals like John Edwards.

If it wasn't for Daimler we wouldn't have seen the Chrysler 300 and Crossfire. It was entirely up to Chrysler how to build that car with the cars based on the older SLK and E-Class platforms respectively. They did a horrible job with the Crossfire and the 300C and 300C SRT8 had too much body roll.

Its not a matter of saving the chrysler guys from themselves. Its a matter of Diamler being gone. Diamler was making decissions that were crippling to chrysler.

I am thinking more of a bridge for Fiat to enter the states then eliminate chrysler all together.

Jeep will be fine. That division is on its own and are concentrating on a Jeep being a Jeep. You still need Mopar and Chrysler in order for Jeep to be there. I watch Chrysler very close so if you guys have any questions just ask. If I dont know I can find out.

Ok I have a question, if Chrysler plans on going upscale and competing with benz, are they bringing back old model names? if so which ones?

Do you think there is a viable future for Dodge cars. Might this be a way to begin phasing them out and moving all the passenger car production under the Chrysler nameplate?

Interesting but I dont think so. There talking Chrysler to be upper luxo. Dodge to be all around brand [econo and performance] It would be hard to put them together. Its like the Pt Cruser with Chrysler. The PT is not luxury so it taints the chrysler atmosphere. Dodge is the bread and butter. Jeep has a very loyal fan base as it should. The Ram croud loves there trucks.

The Power Wagon started back in the 1940s and it literally ment 4 Wheel Drive. You could get it in either a D series or W series depending upon your needs. It has recently returned with factory winch, the front sway bar can be dissengaged, Bilstien shocks 4.56 ring and pinnion ratio, etc. There 1/2 ton truck is NOT the recall king. There One Ton truck is Equal in most areas if not better than in others [ Cummins; the ONLY Medium duty deiesel in the feild, others are lite duty] than Ford. The Charger, Challenger are very good cars. I agree that a definate improvement has to happen in the mid and smaller segments. The 2009 Ram 1500 recieved more awards than ANY truck on the planet. [ more than Ford]. Lets not forget the Caravan does quite well also.

bfghemicuda, I must agree with most of what you say, and you are one of the few knowledgeable truck guys on this blog,lol maybe it's just us? lol I have heard that the older 1/2 tone were recalled the most a few years ago? I don't have time to look it up, and the 2009 does look good, but in my opinion the ford is better hands down according to the off road magazines I have read, Cummins is hands down the best Diesel out of the bunch, no disputing that, according to a friend of mine in Alberta in the oil fields the most rugged truck is the f-350 4x4, then the Dodge and the chev is the least desirable truck there because they fall apart after two years, and I like the Charger and the viper, the Charger is new and all but when I saw it in Top gear they laughed at its bad handling, they said it was too heavy, It could be improved a lot, if they brought it up to speed (lighter, sportier suspension...) it would out perform the European super cars.I am not a fan of the Caravans, have they fixed there tranny yet? Tranny shops know Caravans too well. For the record I am considering an older Dodge 1 ton 4x4 late 80s early ninetys? to modify for cheap? I'll have to price it out$$ It might be too much?

truckman, You are correct, the offroad guys love there fords. I believe that started back in the cross I beam suspensions days. Not much to modify and gobs of suspension travel plus ford makes a good truck. The Charger could be lighter but the majority of weight is safety stuff. I guess its better to have a high safety rating than performance for the average buyer. For me they could take off 400 lbs of airbags and the like and I will wear a 5 point harness. Hope you have success with your truck find.
