Yes, but that will be for the redesigns and the Imperial will be stretched.

sounds like a good recipe: develope a less expensive car off previous-gen. benz platform. that could work for both benz and chrysler, for a long time.

benz could develope a more expensive chassis with the thought that it will continue to get use 6 years after benz no longer uses it. absolutely brilliant investment in r&d dollars.

Chrysler to build imperial luxury sedan by 2010. Hmmmm, that is, if they can make it to 2010. An ultraluxury vehicle won't save them. If anything, it will put them further in debt.

Will this be the new Buick Imperial?
Assuming anything exists of Chrysler products in 2010, that gives us 3 years of contentment before having to look at this hideous beast driving by.

I think all of you are being way too hard on poor Chrysler. The brand is just trying to recapture some of their glory days with this "semi-halo" car. Chrysler's Imperial actually has some history to it.

Whether or not the public will like it, well that's a different story...

Will, you know this car will be the bombdiggity with the mid-west crowd.

They'll sell a million of them!

joelajoela - 3/14/2007 12:08:31 PM

Exactly, Will. Chrysler's trying to duplicate the success of the 300 and the Imperial's another foray in that direction. While I personally dislike most retros (exception: the PT Cruiser), such vehicles do get the public's attention (and bucks).

Will be interesting to see if Chrysler gives the Imperial the thumbs up. Other reports indicated MB balked at it: too much competition to its own overpriced brands. If/once Chrysler is purchased, will be interesting to see if the new owners give it the go.

Both front and rear end lights need to be changed. It looks like an old car. It should look new with old styling but it just looks boring. An American Rolls Royce? That's just too funny. But hey they were successful with an American Bentley 300C :P

I mean come on..........Chrysler trying to be premium; you got to be kidding me. Chrysler has never been a premium brand, why now? Do they really think people that are currently own Chrysler because because they have money.......no they don't. No of them do have the money, if they do they will probably get the Cadillac. And if not they go get a German brand or Japanese luxury brand.

Just because you hire or invited the Desperate housewife actress stand next to this concept at the autoshow; doe not not make a premium brand. Sorry for the fragment sentence.

Even though the Imperial is a copy of the Phantom, I think it actually looks pretty good. I'm not really a Phantom fan either, but I think all of the clowns that ran out and bought the Chrysler 300's because it reminded them of Bentley's will eat this up too. I wouldn't buy it, but I love suicide doors. The concept has them...look for big sales is Chrysler is around still.

Why is someone a clown for buying a Chrysler 300? I own a 300C and I sure as hell didnt buy it because I thought it looked like a Bentley. To me it looks like a Chrysler 300. People who say this either need a visit to Lens Crafters or they need to find the nearest Bentley dealer ASAP and take a visit...

I think whoever buys Chrysler will cancel this product, or delay introduction pending a total exterior redesign rather than risk the market-place derison which this iteration of the Imperial will surely bring.

Way too much hate in most of these comments, put down the Haterade for a moment. I saw this concept at the Detroit auto show last year with my uncle. It wasn't bad looking. And my uncle especially loved it because he was around in the days of the original and said it was always a big, "bad", full sized sedan in every sense, much like this new one is. For the record, I can dig it...

oh god now i have to tollerate the urban kids driving around in their dad's Chrystler Imperial instead of their 300s with the plastic rims, 5% tint comming up to me revving their engines at my 645ci. please.
i feel bad for those people who bought the 300 because its a functioning car. Alot of ppl purchased it because its a Poor Man's bentley. those ppl who junk out their 300s should be ran over, personally by me.
