The tentative four-year contract between the United Auto Workers and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was voted down Wednesday by one local union in Metro Detroit.

Both skilled trades and production workers for Local 1248 in Warren voted down the proposed deal — skilled trades voted 52 percent against the contract; 65 percent of production workers cast “no” ballots, according to a post on social media that was confirmed by a member.

The rejection of the contract by the more than 700 Local 1248 members is a small victory for opponents of the tentative contract, which would cover 40,000 members. Voting for larger production facilities with thousands of workers is scheduled to start ramping up Thursday and continue into early next week.
